Recommended courses in the Lake District?

As above, it has been known to rain there!! Seriously though, Windermere, Penrith are both interesting tracks, Kendal is a bit of a goat track and there's a cheap pay and play at Carus Green. If they are too wet then head for the coast. Seascale is a good links as is Silloth on Solway (a top 100 course) and there's another on Walney Island at Barrow (can't remember the name).

As above, Windermere, Walney Island, Seascale, Silloth (yes, yes, yes) Brampton, Morecambe or Ulverston. Where abouts you staying Aztecs (what dates?). Avoid Kirkby Lonsdale (boggy), Kendal (as per above) and Carus - no chance it will even be slightly dry - oh same for Grange over Sands. Most of the above take county cards so great value if you've got one for your county.
Forgot Sedbergh - interesting, Appleby good as well.

Go to Windermere I played in a scratch event there last year good course.if you go on there website then I'm sure they do a deal where you can play 3 courses for 70quid or something like that

Plenty of places to play. First question is were are you staying because it will dictate where you are likely to play as some places will be really boggy because as usual, its a bit wet at the moment. For example, my place Workington was closed yesterday following torrential rain on tuesday. If you are heading towards north or western lakes I may be free on wednesday.

Anyone got any? Off up there next week for a few days and will take my clubs if there's anywhere to play.

See how far away it is, as just outside the lake district, but if willing to travel 30 mins, try Lancaster. I have a mate who was mamber, so have played there 4-5 times. Great course, parkland, but overlooks the river lune, fantastic 18th and the clubhouse is great.

A lot of forward planning Bob. Booked in to play the Old and the New, and just trying to sort out another couple of courses. Possibly Lundin Links and Ladybank.

Silloth is by far the best. Carlisle very good and so is Brampton and Seascale. The English Amateur is being played at Seascale and Silloth next year. Windermere spent £750,000 on their greens a few years' ago and is quite short. Not sure where you are staying but Lancaster on the way up excellent with great great greens. The course on Walnet Island is Furness which is Links and dates back to 1875.

I play at Ulverston which is in good condition and whilst closed yesterday it was open today with no temporary greens. I would avoid Grange over Sands, and Carus Green too wet. Kendal is hilly and if you are going further East towards Yorkshire Bentham is worth a visit with great hospitality.

If you find yourself short of somewhere to play please feel free to contact me.

Have a great time

I know Walney is held in decent regard, what about the other one up Ormsgill/Hawcoat, thinks its Barrow Golf club?

Going up to visit my mum soon in Barrow and have a few mates who are members at both, may well tap em up for a round or 2 :)
