Recommend me some waterproofs

Personally Id keep an eye on ebay and try and pick some off up there, can get some of last seasons models much cheaper. I managed to pick up a Zero Restriction goretex jacket brand new (not usually sold over here but $300+ in US) for less than £30 the other week. Brands I would try to look at include Proquip, Sunderland, Footjoy, Sunice, Stuburt, Adidas, Nike

Too late, she's already paid her money... lol

Think outside of golf branded, i have some waterproofs i use for cycling, bought them from Trespass. think Millets, Trespass, decathalon and look at the "walking" type gear. Mine were under £30 for jacket and troos, and the scrunch up Uber small into inbuilt little pockets. great VFM and i have not got wet yet in them!

Recommend some waterproofs? Again?

Save up, get some Galvin Greens.

Blunt and to the point but correct really. I have had a look on Ebay and elsewhere on the web and there are some decent buys around if you look hard enough. The guy says his wife has alreadt coughed up so its a bit late now. No idea what Woodworm waterproofs are like TBH, my main concern with them being the price they are is the breathability of them. No point in keeping the rain off you if you end up wet through with sweat

Thanks for all the answers.

The matter is now closed, although I'm a bit disappointed that no-one actually addressed the issue of fitting, and instead concentrated solely on brand + price.

To be frank, there is no way I am ever going to spend £200+ on Galvin Greens, and some of the suggestions and replies on this thread have just reaffirmed the suspicion that golf is ideed an elitist game, and those who try to play and equip themselves to a budget are to be looked down upon.

Two sets of GG, twice very wet, terrible customer service now the proud owner of ProQuip Tourflex and so far so good.

To a degree you are 100% correct however on the other hand buy quality you usually save in the long run.

Not a case of looking down on anyone mate, we dont want you to spend money on something that will not last you and work for you. I have to say £60 for a complete suit is cheap, now dont get me wrong it may well be great I dont know about woodworm clobber as I said above. With regards to the fitting side of things that is a difficult one to be fair as everyone is built and made differently, for example I am 6ft3" tall but only take a 34" waist trouser but need a 34"leg but a Large in the jacket due to being fairly slim build so I have to buy individual garments not a suit. Only you knows what fits you properly. The thing with Galvins is that there is a lifetimes waterproof guarantee on them so you are literally only buying once unless you happen to rip one like I did:o Whilst I agree there can be some derogatary remarks made most of them in this thred from what I can see are only trying to help. Good luck anyway and hope the Woodworm works well for you:thup:

Must have been unlucky then. I ripped mine hitting out of the trees and told my pro who contacted Galvin and because I have bought other items of theirs in the past they sent me a new jacket FOC and it only took just over a week to arrive no quibbles. Been out in some monsoons in them as well and always dry as a bone. Was at the practice days at The Open in Lytham and it poured it down for hours on end not a drop got through. Proquip are also good though my Dad has theirs and he has not had any problems although he has not been out in the conditions I have

GG told me I was "layering" incorrectly and that the wet was sweat. I ended up going through WL Gore directly in Livingstone. GG sent the jacket onto them who found it to be faulty. I was thereafter sent a replacement which leaked in the exact same place. Thankfully a refund was sought and issued at this stage.

I may be slightly overweight but hardly a big fatty who sweats like a Rhino in a sauna!

I have to put in a good word for the woodworm gear that the OP is getting. I have had my woodworm suit for about 3 years now and have never had a problem. Biggest test was when I wore them in the rain, mud and gail force winds at the Download Festival last year. After 5 days of awful weather I had managed to stay dry from start to finish. The trousers were particularly good and warm as well. Even better that I got mine in a SportsHQ sale for £30.00.

elitest your having a laugh, you asked for folks reccomendations and that's what you got. £30 pound suit head to Arco (this isn't me be elitest) and see what they have. as others have said most sub £50 suits wont be very breathable. if you pushed your budget upto £100 you can mix n match.
ive a pair of mizuno imperalite trousers £40 and I have a stuburt 1/4 zip waterproof jacket £60 both keep me dry in the rain and breathable.
check out direct golf and the stuburt range or as folk have mentioned pro quip (ryder cup team wore them)
its horses for courses I wont mention my other waterproof suit for fear of being elitest.

Sounds like a faulty batch then to me if the fault occured in the same place. Was the replacement the exact same model and colourway as the first one?
