Need a bigger car as the due date of little Fader feet fast approaches need some recommendations on a new family wagon. My last car before it was written off by an inconsiderate drunk was an Octavia lovely motor but have been subject to HID's 207 the last few months so decided to spend my insurance money on something sizeable.

I want a 7 seater ideally as want the room to put all golf gear in when I'm child free for the day and keep my gym & taekwondo stuff in to.

Looking at a few options HID likes the new Zafira, I quite like the Smax. Any experience of these or similar motors.

Not sure of budget etc but S Max is easily the best car for driving pleasure - the revised model is also a lot nicer inside. VW Touran is OK - we have one - dull to drive and build quality in the one we have (2005) is not up to newer VW standards - again the revised model is better. The new Sharan and its cousin the Seat Alhambra look very nice - but only a couple of years old so top prices. In all of these cars and others make sure you get the more powerful diesel options - at least 136 bhp. The Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe both look very nice - the ones with the 192 bhp engine from around 2009/2010. The Vauxhall Zafira is worth a look - there should be plenty of 150 bhp models to chose and will offer a lot for the price compared to most others. One more is the Mazda 5 with its sliding doors - looks decent but many models only had 115 bhp - the 140+ model is quite rare - but worth hunting for

Recently got a Renault Grand Scenic with the panoramic roof. The kids love it as they can see out of the top and with only 5 of the 7 seats up it has plenty of room for 3 or 4 sets of golf rackets in the boot. Wouldn't want to go to far if I had to sit in the 6th or 7th seats at the back but for popping out a short distance it's great.

Whats your budget as this is going to be the deciding factor?

Budget isn't to much of an issue as i've got the insurance money from last one but would be nice to keep a bit of that spare for a holiday or something else maybe. So realistically probably looking around the 12-15k mark.

Got to admit out of all of those I like the look of the Alhambra, Zafira and the Land Rover. Though the Land Rover is out due to engine size just wouldn't get HID insured on it she's only been driving 3 years and shes under 25 (go me).

Definitely seems I have to much choice! Going to need to think this through!

Well with that kind of budget you have got a whole host of cars to go for. S Max has to be on the shopping list.

If you want impressive size then check out the Chrysler Grand Voyager.

Thought i'd update this thread as decision was made on car or should say cars!

Having looked at everything on the market decided to lower my budget a bit so could buy myself the type of car I want (MPV) and buy HID a car for her use as well so she not having to park the bigger one! So split the total budget 10k-6k respectively.

So today we picked up HIDs nice new shiney set of wheels a 07 Plate Golf 1.6 FSI in Silver with ridiculously low miles as the owner was an elderly chap who only drove to the shops and back twice a week. So she is very happy with her new toy.

Now for my car, tomorrow I'm off to collect my new wheels and finally have my own set again for the first time since December. I'm picking up a Vauxhall Zafira 1.9 CDTi Exclusive. I think the only optional extra it doesn't have is a kitchen sink, again got lucky on price and mileage and with trading HIDs Peugeot 207 in against it got a lot of car for my money. Can't wait as it means I can start using a trolley again!
