Recommend a Mallet.

I've decided to go on the hunt for a new putter.
Probably got to be 34" and certainly a degree or two up, in keeping with my fitting.
I do like my Monza, but I've never been overly convinced by the centre shaft (anyone know what this does?! ) and the whole "roundness" of the back end (ooh er) is not to my taste.
I like the look of the T style on Scotty Kombi, but it's also rounded in the derrier. I've seen a Rife Deep blue, which seems darn square. DG do some "hotblade" models which look OK and Ping do a JAS, also a maybe.
Any mallet kings out there?....no 2-ball for me, but maybe one of the other odysseys?

It may not be the mallet style your looking for but I cant fault my Odyssey White Hot no7. Great putter. Good enough enough for Luke Donald too!

Only paid £60 for the 34" brand new.

Seconded..not to mention it's great at picking the ball up.
i think the '7' is one of the all time classic putters.

Red X is probably a bit rounded for Dave - if you want a mallet but not a round one then I think the Number 7 Fang is the way to go. Thinking of getting one myself........

Callaway do/did the iTrax - a bit square like the JAS. Difficult to find but has the rarity value.
Or how about the Scotty Squareback...?

Only way to know is go and try a load of them, I did recently and ended up with an Odyssey Sabretooth, not the prettiest of putters by a long shot but seems to get the ball in the hole

Another vote for the Odyssey Fang.

I had a 2-ball but like others didn't find the rounded shape very helpful.
The Fang looks bladey because of the square angles but is face balanced and forgiving. The soft insert is also really helping me with distance control.

I know, but I'll need to work out where to go - not all the places do all the putters. Also, I'd want to buy one that matches my existing putter for length and lie.

Odyssey # 9 - ok not an out and out mallet but exceptionally stable through impact and easily available in 34". Of course if you went down the odyssey route anyway you could always book a fitting in Chessington

Should be able to buy a red x for less than £100 quite easily. They weren't particularly expensive when new.
