Ok so I was at AG in East kilbride yesterday and had a fitting with Tony one of the coaches (what a brilliant guy btw, knows his **** for sure)...

First off the cleveland classic, I cant believe how far I hit this club..... but as tony pointed out im coming across it so he expects me to slice most balls but shouldnt worry about it for picking a new driver (he gave me some quick tips that had be pinging em straight in about 15 seconds :D )..... the classic didnt have much feel to it so he stuck me on the trackman and no wonder..... I felt like i was holding back in there because I was worried id mishit a ball and send it right into the radar machine (lol)..... anyway.... swing speed was min 104 max 111.... ball speed got up to about 165 which i was pretty impressed with.... so the cleveland classic only had a regular stiff shaft on it (nae use)

next he handed me the G20 with a stiff on it (id tried it the night before with reg shaft and could barely hit it) but with the stiff it felt like a completely different club, belting drives with about 250-260 yards carry.....

I hit the i20 with an even stiffer shaft and got on OK with it, felt a little weird tbh but I was getting good results......

now do i ...... buy the G20...... try the i20 more to see if i can get consistent results with it..... or just order the cleveland in stiff without hitting it (they dont have stiff in stock...)

Before splashing the cash, have you been able to try any of these clubs out on the range or course? Please don't believe what the trackman tells you, it is absolute b*****x. I was on the one in my local AG a few weeks ago and I was also getting 165mph ball speed but from a swing speed of only 95-98mph!

yeh lots of posts on here about the reliability of AG trackmans, i think you should have a demo on a full size range before committing.

sorry guys i should have said..... it wasnt an indoor trackman... its an accusport launch monitor in a bay which faces onto the driving range :) I really was hitting the ball miles because im very familiar with where my balls with my old driver land down range :)

fk it, im gonna go with the G20.... the pro said its giving me by far the best numbers and at the end of the day if i miss the fairway its not going to be the clubs fault =]

If you get the right shaft, the G20 is a good choice as it is a great head. Have a look at the custom fit options, some very good shafts available. I thought the standard TFC tour shaft was pants.

do AG custom fit shafts ? the pro stuck on a stiff one and the difference was instant but im not sure if it was a ping stock shaft or not.... would i have to book in for a shaft fitting you think ?

Have a look on the Ping website for approved fitting centres, not sure which would be your most local. Unfortunately Ping don't have the fitting carts like a lot of other manufacturers so I've only ever seen standard shafts in the shops.

thats a pain the closest place make you pay £25 deposit for a fitting appointment which is deducted from anything you buy :o

I'd head through to Edinburgh first and book a c/f session with Scott Gourlay first.

Sorry, what's your question?

Even Lee Westwood and M-A Jimenez don't use i20 drivers.

Oh, hold on, you've already decided.

Good choice. :)
