I'm watching this at the moment and it should be an absolute spectacle of footballing finestry - why then are both teams cheating???

I've just seen a Real Madrid player simply shielding the ball - nothing more, nothing less. The Barca guy who's trying to win the ball falls to the ground clutching his face. Why???

He made himself look like an absolute moron.

I just don't understand football anymore. When I played, you had confidence in yourself and your team. If you thought you were going to get beaten then you gave it one hell of a go. Is the Barca guy saying that he knows they're going to lose so he'll cheat??? Surely he knows that they're two fairly evenly balanced sides???

I'm really confused with football at the moment......... :D

RIP football, what an utter joke, if they put as much effort into the football as they did into the play acting, childish behaviour and ref baiting it would be some spectacle.

Until Fifa actually put a stop to all this cr4p then football will never be the same as it used to be in terms of a spectacle

Me too, but this is one of the very few games I can be bothered watching now. When I played, the absolutel last thing you'd want to do is let an opponent think he'd hirt you, too many gob$hites in the game now I fear

Ilike Barcelona, but i also like Real Madrid ...

FIGHT !!!

Oh sorry, that's what's just happened

Yeahm youre right - tehse guys have got all teh speed, touches and vision, but they are falling all over the place - it's shame. The ref shoudl get the two captains together in the middle of teh pitrch and tell them that unless the 2 teams grow up he will start sending off 1 from each team startiong with the captains then the goalies then the centre forwards etc

the rules dont help tbh as its turning more like basketball every week. Ok some tackles are diabolical and deserve red cards but some of the yellows dished out these days are laughable. Its great seeing skill and such but I wish some of them would man up a bit and stop going down like a Russian sniper has shot them from the stands

short pulling, diving, waving imaginary yellow cards at refs.... its pants!!! :)

Woeful!!! Absolutely woeful!!!

Pepe goes for a 50/50 with Alves - SLIGHT contact - Alves goes down like someone's removed his leg with a rusty spoon!!!

Pepe sent off!!! What for???

Mourinho sent off!!!

Alves get taken off on a stretcher - that's fair enough as the poor lad appeared to be in quite some pain but, hang on a minute, he's up and running not 30 seconds after his 'injury'. Surely, if you're in that much pain, you'd need more than 30 seconds to recover or am I missing something???

Teams locked in the dressing rooms after the game due to what has been going on...............When you think about the bile spouted about the Old Firm in recent weeks, it will be interesting to see what is said about this game. The OF have their faults but it is a long long time since they behaved in this manner. What happened in the so called infamous Cup game a few weeks back is looking like a Sunday School picnic compared to Barca and Real tonight - they truly are bringing the game to shame with their performaces tonight. Will the Spanish government and police be calling for summits and meetings with the clubs? Or did the Scottish government and Strathclyde police just overreact in a big big way?

For what it's worth I think the ref got the red card right...if he hadn't got the leg out the way it would have been a knacker job.

Fella, were we seperated at birth???

I completely agree. The officials had to be protected by riot shields when they left the field due to objects being thrown!!! Mind you, UEFA will just say that the fans are 'passionate'!!!

Rather than simply counting all their money, UEFA/FIFA should actually start doing something about the woeful state of football. Players diving and cheating, fans chanting racist abuse and throwing things and pretty much every club hugely in debt.

One solution to the feigning injury problem. Go off injured and you spent 5 mins in "an injury Bin"--team down to 10 men.

After a few weeks players should get the message and stop the clowning around.

Can see a slight problem where teams could kick the opponents and gain an advantage but the game a radical proposal to clean it up.

Very few 'honest' footballers out there nowadays, its all about conning, cheating, feigning, and anything else to get the edge.

Whereas in Rugby, (League & Union) - the last thing on your mind is letting an opponent think he's hurt you, you just get up spitting out blood and smile menacingly at the guy that just did it.
Personally, I think all footballers should go down to a Rugby training session, and see what real pain is about.
Tarts.

A good game (Tottenham v Arsenal recently) or a good performance, (Man U against Schalke on Tues), is well worth watching, but the sh1te last night was pathetic, and only the 2 Messi goals that lit up what was otherwise a cheating spectacle.

Sadly, I fear with Barca in the Final, it will be a boring spectacle against whoever, and they will simply pass it around in their usual 'possession possesion possesion' fashion, which is tiresome to watch. Skillful maybe, but hardly a spectacle of football excitement.

The only hope we have is that Man U field a team like Tuesday who can score in an instant on a breakaway, and make it a game worth watching.

It will suit UEFA that last nights debacle will be remembered more for Messi's brilliance rather than the blatant cheating of his team mates. Barca should be up for bringing the game into disrepute which is about as likely as collaborator Platini saying he loves to see Premiership teams dominate the showpiece european competition.

So Barca were the only team at it last night? The boy on the left wing went down easier than a Thai hooker. Marcelo stamps on a guy. Adebayor does two challenges in 5 seconds that could be conveyed as at least a yellow for the first and possibly a straight red for the second.

Messi the best player in the world? By a country mile. The second best was supposedly on that park last night, you wouldn't have thought it.

I wonder how the second leg will go with RM having to actually play attacking football instead of, as the 'special' one put it... parking the bus.
