Which is insane. If Inbev bought the Mona Lisa, it would still be a great painting. It wouldn't be diminished overnight because of the new owners.

The product almost always does deteriorate though. They source cheaper ingredients, use less of the ingredients and flavour is massively degraded. Seen it many, many times.

There’s also the business practices of the likes of Heineken and the human cost incurred by companies like Lion who’ve supported military dictators in Myanmar.

Mansfield was a brewing town. Marksman lager was the danglies, mansfield bitter, mild and smooth it was the divine. The smell of beer being brewed hung over the town. It was like smelling weetabix with hot milk on. Then Wolverhampton brewery came In. Mansfield beers were going places. Really the brewery shut and the beers nigh on disappeared. Me I couldn't give a hoot who owns peroni, and as a very good premium lager it is still being produced and sold a couple of quid cheaper in a wetherspoons than in 10 Bob millionaires pub. Re craft and real ales. Ave had some that's been £7 a pint and let's just say they were better filtered passing through my kidneys. Grade one rammel so of them.

But that’s not how Real Brew drinkers think. This is same everywhere.. Innocent smoothie was a brilliant concept a few years ago, but seems to have gone downhill since coco cola bought them..

£7 a pint really isn't that much in the grand scheme of craft beer.

I don't think most people who drink "real ale" aka CAMRA types care who makes it as long as it's as cheap as possible and isn't dispensed from a keg.

Nope, it's quite a tight knit community with a massive crossover between those who work in it and those who simply partake so people tend to look out for each other's interests and these generally aren't served by ownership by a macro beer company.

I live "oop north" and the craft beer scene is massive in Leeds and Manchester. It has no problem sustaining beers at £7 a pint, but people often don't drink craft the pint.

How did it look for you to call it vile? My guess would be opaque/hazy?

I've been reading this term "craft beer" , not knowing exactly what it is, but I suspect it is some sort of esoteric brew whose supporters speak of a bit like modern so called art lovers speak of splashes of paint😀
Now been confirmed by the prices you indicate.
Like the art, something for me to stay away from.

I really like 'proper' beer, don't particularly think of it as posh, or pretentious.
Re. Patrick's remark, I've always found it hard to find any decent ale in most parts of Scotland. Fair enough, they specialise in other stuff, but maybe that has coloured your view?

nothing to do with Scotland, lived in St Albans, which was the home of Camra (don't know if it still is) went to many many beer festvals, run by them and by the many real ale pubs in the town.... if i'm honest it all tasted like Pish to me

Largely true but do seek out Loch Fyne Ales..... draught & bottled. Does Kellfire know anyone in Leeds stocking them??
