So today i want to play golf and it is raining/showers on and off allday.
Do you guys leave your houses to play golf in the rain? what are your thoughts about this.

Cancelled two rounds due to horrendous rain but that was only as we'd played lots of golf earlier on in the week. We just get the waterproofs out:D

See how long it takes before someone says there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothes.

Depends on how much rain and also how appropriate your clothes are (DOH). A few times with the forecast of rain I've thought, it won't be that bad, I've got waterproofs and it will mean the course is empty so I'll play.

However if you are out in constant heavy rain, I can pretty much guarantee that by the time you get to the 15th and all your grips are wet, every bit of clothing is wet including your pants and you are fanny around zipping and unzipping the rain hood and trying to find the club you need for the 90th time that round, you will ask yourself why you bothered.

But if it's showers then as long as you have some half decent waterproofs then you should be OK.

I do and as long as it isn't cold or blowing a gale I don't mind playing in the rain. Usually have my wet gear in the bag so will throw this on if it's constant rain. Umbrella is usually enough to deal with the odd shower.

Priority for me is keeping grips dry. When this becomes a losing battle I bring out the wet gloves. Usually will also fire on my waterproofs because playing with saturated trousers is very uncomfortable and distracting if they stick to your legs. Can be hard when it is very warm and raining because the extra layer of the wet suit can cause you to sweat. Sometimes a good option to go out in wet trousers as your main ones in those conditions.

For when things are too bad with the rain I do prefer to wear a single glove. I carry spares in a little nylon bag that's got waterproofing on it. The other option is to use ziplock bags or the dry pocket on your golf bag if it can be trusted. I do know some guys that carry a few towels in plastic bags to ensure they have something to dry grips etc down. I keep meaning to do that but usually I'm lucky if I have got the one nomrally attached to my bag never mind spares!

Good advice here from a man who clearly knows his rain living where he does no doubt!! ;)

Rain doesnt bother me much apart from wet grips.... Towels and plenty of gloves in the bag as been said and spend some cash on a decent Gortex rain suit. Although if it completely dumps it down no suit is completetly waterproof...

I play in all weather providing the course is playable. All the way through the cold wet muddy winters is quite hard work on solid, soft greens/ fairways and with cold hands but I just try and look forward to the sun coming out and use it as good practice..... doesnt work though! :p
