I'm fighting the temptation to splurge on an R11....i'm reading nothing but good things, anyone out there want to put me off? Or tell me how fantastic it is?!
i'd wait until the new ones comes out and either buy that one or get the current r11 at a reduced rate.
i must admit i had a shot of one during the season and loved it but of late i'd like to try the razr hawk and possibly the 910 to see how i get on with them before commiting to any of them.
I tried one for a week or so, mostly went ok, long and pretty straight. But I just didn't like it. No idea why, just didn't. Maybe if u get the right shaft you get a bit more feel from it. I had the one with a blur shaft in.
I went to a couple of TM demo days determined to like the R11 driver. I hated it and never really found a set up I was comfy with or enjoyed the feeling off the club even on the rare ones out of the middle. Loads of better drivers out there. That said I'm hoping the RBZ and the new R112 version may be a step up
I never got on with the R11. I can't bring myself to like a white club. It's unnatural. It also didn't feel right when I hit it. My driver is 9 years old and I know i could probably get another 10 yards out of a new model but I am comfortable with what I have.
Jacko11. I went to the pro shop at the beginning of the summer and tried out 7 different clubs on the driving range. The R11 was longest and straightest so I bought it.......but as soon as I put it in the bag the trouble started. I have tried all sort of settings on the club but I have no confidence that it will go straight; I slice it on all settings, so it is now in the garage gathering dust. I currently play with a Burner driver which is about 4 years old but it goes straight every time so even though it is not as long as the R11 I would rather have the accuracy. I think the issue is that the R11 is heavier than the Burner so I am not bringing the club face square to the ball and it comes through slightly open. Wanna buy a little used second hand r11??!!
if found the opposite to mobie, snap hook city on every drive, swapped the head weights, moved the sole adjuster plate, even messed around with the shaft adjuster... was more like a red arrow display team.
dropped it, got the burner back out and like mobie consistency is back. im interested as to why some of the tour boys used the Superfast/Superfast TP and not the r11, TM seem to have really pushed the "Adjustability" factor on the r11, yet it dont seem their most popular model.
Ultimately the guys on tour don't need the adjustability Oddsocks, they probably have several versions set up slightly differently and if they want anything adjusting they head straight to the TM bus and get it sorted, the adjustability is ultimately a marketing tool, trying to offer amateurs the adjustability the tour pros already get
ah valid point fundy, i know they marketed the whole " the club that can change as your swing changes" issue... but for me the burner never needed adjusting.
As much as i like the rocket balls, the nostalgia part of me wants a superfast 2, ive got the first burner metal still at home, got a mid 90's supersteel, current using the 09 burner, so a superfast 2 would be a nice addition. and its not got a silly name.,
wow i remember having one of the first burners, must be about a tenth of the size of the current driver heads lol. Used to have about 7 degrees of loft on it too,I must have had a golf swing in those dys
not a huge fan of the recent range, just dont like the white and for me the Titleist 910 sits far nicer at address, but we all have different preferences
have to say im sad i dont still have any of my clubs from when younger, would be great fun to go out and try and play with them again, seems all you need is a set of mp9s, a ram zebra and some balatas and youre ready to go
not sure I want to revisit the persimmon driver though
