R.I.P Alan Henning

A man who gave his time and now his life to help others, no past or affiliation with anything other than being an aid worker and a taxi driver. I keep reading about this same area being their "stronghold" and its the same place where all the murders have taken place, so why don't we flatten the whole area?

Collateral damage.

Lots of innocent folk in there who have no choice but to be there. Remember IS invaded their home.

Just wish he'd heeded the warnings. He was doing good but in truth not that much good that is worth his life and the pain of his now bereaved family. But there you go - that's folks for you:(

There are probably lots of humanitarian and intellectual reasons why we should not get really tough with these people.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I Couldn't disagree more, these people are ideologists , you can't negotiate or go down the diplomatic route , they have chosen to live by the sword, therefore they must die by it.

Just hope that the collateral damage to the innocent civilian population is minimised as these are the very people he was trying to help

Very sad to hear

Hope the tonkas hit their targets during the next run

It was a tongue in cheek comment Phil.

A very sad, although perhaps inevitable outcome but my thoughts are with his friends and family. It does pose the bigger question of whether this tragic event will galvanise a bigger UK response and what do the politicians do next?

RIP.

Seeing the American they were parading I can't help thinking the yanks won't namby foot around if another U.S. citizen gets beheaded. Outcome will be the yanks going in to Syeria and then I guess we would go with them.

Stuff the human rights act I hope that jihad john ( the Brit doing the beheading ) gets to spend a few minutes a lone with the American forces. Don't think they would have to worry about paying to keep him in prison after that.

the real shame is it won't be the last murder of an innocent citizen by IS.

I hope its just not words but I get a sense that the words, sentiments and comments from the Muslim communities and their leaders across the country condemning Alan Hennings murder could do more good than bad, to state openly that IS is not representative of Islam or the Muslim faith is encouraging and I'm "hopeful" that Mr Hennings murder will not be in vain and may turn some "on the fence" younger followers of these barbaric murderers against them as they killed a humanitarian who only had others in his thoughts and put those he set out to help above his own life to help them, we live in hope....

Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
Not going to get into my opinions on IS as infractions and bans would be the outcome.
