Putting !!!!!!!!!!

Depends though doesnt it? if his approach shots are all landing 2ft from the green and then chipping to within a few foot, that 1.6 putts mean little really.

I think WWG has previously stated that he is 28 capper so probably unlikely that all his approaches are in a 2ft proximity to the hole. Again I could be wrong;)

I think a lot of it comes down to regular practice no matter how your fundamentals are!!! Last year I was putting more and my putts were at 1.9 per hole. Over the winter I've not done anything at all and I'm really struggling the now- the last 2 games 39 and 41 putts.... i'm trying not to let it get to me just need to practice and I know the feel will come back. Don't forget your greens are no doubt still a bit soggy and slower than what you're used to in the summer

Just dont 3 putt is the key. Wouldnt worry about 2 putting 80% of the time.
Of course some will drop but the key is not having any 3 putts.

I just got SugarPenguins old Versa and with a tip Bobmac gave me about shorter backswing-longer follow through I was getting a lovely roll on the carpet in work. Took it to the practice green Sunday for it's first real trial and while I was still getting lovely roll I was still missing short putts.

A buddy walked passed as I missed one and casually said "you hit it exactly where you were aiming". My alignment was terrible. Could it be that simple? I aligned myself with a stick and rolled one in after another. Jeez. Maybe sometimes it's a lot more basic than we think...

Not that I think for a moment I have it cracked btw! And I do love the putter - cheers dude :)

This is what happened to me in the medal on Saturday out of nowhere! I usually am around 35 putts but on Saturday i hit 47... I played my best golf up to the green in a long time.

This sounds very similar to me this Saturday. Maybe it was just the golfing gods frowning upon us.

But yeah I played very well but had 44 putts, including one 5 putt after a GIR!!!

I am now intent on practicing my putting to sort this horrible feeling out!!

This may not be entirely your fault, it could be because of the condition of the greens.
Below is a video of me hitting 3 pretty similar putts from the same place and getting 3 different results.

That is quite a claim for a 28 handicapper having putts per round in the top 40 of the European tour!

I putt as well as anyone I have played against, better in fact. I am only including putts from the green, and not those sat on the edge. I am a putting natural, and to be honest, I should have taken up crazy golf, because the rest of my game is still pretty rubbish.

I practice more on the putting green than any other part of my game I am lucky that my golf club is only 5 mins from where I live, it can be boring so a lot of the time I take my 9yr old daughter and play the putting green with her having a shot on every hole( it used to be 2 shots but her putting has improved a lot ), I have to win outright on every hole or she gets a bar of chocolate from the pro shop or a pound coin.

Might not actually be your putting. He may just be a better putter.

The way you describe it is Tee to green you're good, and most of the time you 2 putt. Which seems ok to me.

What I'd be looking at is if you are actually playing to or around you handicap and he's still beating you every time with 7 shots, then I'd suggest his handicap needs an adjustment !

It's a good idea, but two things hold me back. I don't have a daughter, and I despise children. Perhaps I could bring my dog ?

Hey all I'm not looking for help I just need somewhere to rant awhile

I mostly play matchplay most weekends against my dad I'm the better player and he gets 7 shots.
I drive the ball further then him I am more consistent then him with the woods irons and wedges.
But he always holing putts that just punch me right in the gut and hes always doing it.

Last time we played he holed many good putts which is about normal for him and he was 1 up playing the 17th and I had a par 4 on that hole and he "looked like getting a par himself which meant I could only draw the game.
He had a birdie putt and its a massive putt ridiculous long silly putt , Yessss he holed it and lost the match 2/1

My putting is average but not disastrous to my game. Yes I know i could putt better but that's easier said then done
Its just getting to me now, Ill do a good drive, 2nd good shot onto the green and then 2 putt, He will hit a bad drive have to lay up hit is 3rd somewhere on the green then hole some 30ft putt and win the hole cause hes got a shot on it.

Rant over

Look at the bigger picture. Allowing him to beet you may eventually mean you get a better inheritance :)

You despise children? I have an image of the child catcher from chitty chitty bang bang in my head of you.

If you're a putting natural how come on the other thread you said you got your magic wand a month ago, before that was your putting ability not natural?
