How close is your clubs practice green similar interms of speed to the actual course? I have stopped hitting the practice green as it bears little resemblance to that of the greens on the course especially in terms of pace. I have given up warming up my clubs putting green before a round as it really effects my judgement on the course as it bears absolutely no relation to the actual speed of the greens on the course.

Played Monday and putted on the practice green first - after a while all pretty close.

Get on the first green and suddenly 6 ft past..... thankfully made it but the greens were twice as fast the practice one, so do wonder why i bottered? But it's that or go off completely cold?

don't practice pace putts just work on the 3-6 footers

thats the way to do it, go to Majors and you never see them practice pace putts, its all 3-6 footers

The practice green is a great place to hone your game, avoid it at your own peril! I spend hours on mine honing the game, learning pace, holing out and lag putting. The fact that it is different to the course is not a problem, I can get the pace of the greens with a few putts.

Remember on the course the pace changes slightly from green to green during 18 holes so reading pace is a skill rather than a number assigned to a single round or day!

I say get on your practice green and putt your evenings away, do it with a V-Easy and your game will be changed for the better without a doubt!

+1

Definitely use mine a lot for both short chips and for working on the putting. It has a tier through it so great for working on long lag putts and for holing out on sidehill, and up/downhill putts. It isn't a mile away speed wise to those on the course but like Scienceboy I can usually get the pace within a hole or two anyway
