hi our club has just installed an artificial putting green (no grass ones) what can you learn from putting on this prior to a round?

short off the tee

Our putting green (when its not covered in snow) bears no resemblance to the 18 on the course. It isn't covered in moss to start with and is usually much quicker than the course. It has its use though especially for somewhere to work on your stroke as its about 20 yards long with a slope in tier in it so you can work on all types of distance and break. Tried the aritifical ones (Downshire in Wokingham has one) but the ball just seems to wander off line

It could help to hit a few putts to make sure your putting stroke is working as it should but no real use when it comes to judging what the ball will do on the course...

would please the pitch mark complainers !

dont like the sound of that SOTT! i suppose you just have to suck it up and get on with it. alot of practice greens and the actual greens have different speeds so it shouldnt really bother you that much!

Can I therefore assume from the negative replies so far, that all my endless hours putting on my carpet, trying to perfect a sound stroke, have been wasted?
