Been playing really well lately .
Driving and long game great.
But have just been pushing my short irons .
Getting the yardage right usually pin high .
Par 3s have been tough as I am chipping over bunkers.
Scratching my head a bit.
May need the pro to look.
Any thoughts.

Has your grip changed at all recently?
Not intentionally.
It’s something I do monitor as I have a tendency to weaken my right hand.

It feels like I have stopped rotating and the only path for my arms is in to out so push.
But don’t do it in my long game.

Do you pull down on the handle in your downswing in an attempt to get a forward leaning shaft.
I have a forward press before takeaway .
But don’t delibaretly try for shaft lean.
As I said “ it’s just my 9/ wedge shots so hard to pin down.
My thought was I was trying to get some more backspin and just getting it wrong somewhere.
Sure the pro will see it right away.

Sounds like you have the face open.

That has always been an issue for me.
But if it was the case I would be missing my long irons and woods as well, but I am not.
That’s what is confusing ,so I think it’s just a clubface problem.

It could just that as you are hitting down on the ball the swing path is further to the right (for a right handed golfer), this is why you see a lot of pros aim slightly left when hitting wedge shots. It's the opposite of hitting driver on the upswing (positive angle of attack) where you have to aim slightly right of target as once the club has reached it's lowest point & starts moving upwards the swing path will move left.

Here's a good video explaining this for you

Thanks for that very interesting vid.
It does explain swing path very well.
But my irons are ok it’s just my 120yd and under that seems to be the problem.
Controlling the clubface is the prob I think but seeing my pro tomorrow hopefully he will sort it.
Thanks for taking the time guys.

If you have an open club face then it's possible that longer irons will create draw spin if your swingpath is in to out. Shorter irons have more loft which will negate much of the draw spin and tend to push the ball straight out right.

Just a thought.

Pro said I am stopping my shoulder turn just before impact.
This would normally hook as your hands take over .
But I am fanning the face open and a push.
So it’s practice for me.
Shot 4 under 68 today though I think I have sorted it.
Hopefully.
Thanks guys.
