So I have an AG voucher to spend and a fair bit of cash saved - originally I was looking at a 3 or 4 wood & new driver. But it has been suggested to me that I'd benefit better from a good set of irons.

What do you think? My kit is listed in my sig - all was second hand and pretty cheap. What should I replace first?

Depends on how much it adds up to.

Personally I'd go for a driver and a 4 or 5 wood if you are looking at £150 + ish.

But if you have more than £400 then it's worth shopping around to see what's out there.

I got my new kit for about £300 the lot. But that includes being given a nice shiny driver by GM, a couple of new, but old range fairway woods and hybrids, as were my irons 5-SW. Plus a couple of wedges from the forum here, at a bargain price.

Oh, and Smiffy gave me his old putter coz it kept on 4 putting for him. It's not the putters fault - it saves me at least one putt on most greens. :ears:

Nothing wrong with your irons unless they are damaged. I would personally suggest a 3/4 wood but Im no pro or decent golfer.

I'd buy clothes with the AG vouchers and take my cash to somewhere that knows what they are talking about club wise and won't try and sell you Wilson, Yonex, Hogan or Nicklaus irrespective of what you want to try
