There is no info on the Close House or European Tour website, so I phoned up Close House to see if there is any public transport lined up for next week.

According to the girl I spoke to, here are buses running non-stop from Newcastle Central Station and opposite St Andrews Church on Newgate St, from 6.30am-11.00am, and returning between 2pm and 6.30pm. £6 return.

Hope this helps a few on here.

Presumably there is a park and ride somewhere nearby as well. I can't find anything on the site so far but I imagine you get nearby and there will be signs directing you where to go.

It's a bit poor that with a week to go, they have not put anything re transport on either website.

the booking page for the Hero Challenge has this info -

Please note that on arrival you will be required to walk from the car parks to the audience waiting area. This walk is roughly 400 yards through uneven terrain, so please wear appropriate footwear. The recording takes place outdoors and the viewing areas around the stage, fairway and green will be split between grandstand seats and standing only. There are limited seats which will be allocated on arrival.

not sure what the "audience waiting area" is, sounds ominous!

also not sure what the capacity is for the Hero Challenge, but given it's all round the 18th hole, it can only be a few thousand at most, but putting that aside, it does sound like the car parking is going to be adjacent to the course.

Smart Alec :ears:

I looked briefly and it didn't jump out from the website. Anyway, quite happy. I thought I wasn't going to be able to go at all but plans have changed so I hope to go up on the Friday now. There is a cracking turn out for it.

We're stopping at the ship inn, wylam, which looks really close on the map. Does anyone know the area well enough to confirm if it is walking distance bearing in mind one of us is 74?

It’s a good mile trek up a steep hill mate, I’d maybe consider a small taxi ride up to the course.
