Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

This is painful.

Bit cruel that you’re not allowed to concede 🤣.
The playoff is a new stroke play round (not match play). However, a player is permitted to concede defeat in such a situation, and if done, the other player is not required to hole out. And it has happened before on the PGA Tour, at least once.
The situation is covered in Committee Procedures.

I wonder if Hill would've been better with a wedge on the 18th green. He was putting so far off the green and up the slope that 20ft away was about as good as he could've got with the putter.
The commentators seemed to think that was the play but if he'd got it wrong I think it may have been more destructive that the putt.
He had to pitch it, off the tightest of lies - a green - over a rise and land in an are about the size of a couple of hand towels......getbit wrong and he's out of the playoff....

Inci Mehmet's on course commentary is making me feel uncomfortable.

She actually commented on laying up a par 3 earlier in the week 🤦.

This isn't the monthly medal Inci...

Yeah she is terrible. She got the read completely wrong on many putts (I don't know why she was bothering to tell us which way a putt was going to break). She also called the wrong strategy multiple times, e.g. saying a player was laying up and then they went for the green.

Nice Sunday afternoon stroll in the park for Justin Rose 👏 👏

Someone else can confirm with the stats, but Rose winning the Farmers feels a lot more prestigious than Scheffler winning the Amex last week: iconic venue, stronger field, more historic. But not hearing anyone equating Rose dominance with being the new Tiger 😆

PGA Tour Events on Iconic courses is the blueprint for the future.

What a great event that was to watch.

When there is an element of struggle it really adds to the viewing experience.
Hit it offline and there is a penalty, hit it in play and you can score well.

I have no interest in watching hit it anywhere as far as you can drive and gouge with no problems whatsoever like last week at the Amex.

Fair points on how it felt.
OWGR did have the Amex ahead on field strength and winning points.

Perhaps for some having two courses in play during the week drops it a tad.

On a similar note - UK currently has 4 players in the top 6 at OWGR.
Imagine what the UK media would be like if that was the case in say tennis. 🤔

This is the week imo of the worst comp of the year - the annual how embarrassing can people get on one hole at Pheonix, the tournament that spawned the “party hole”

What truly embarrassing thing shall we see this year ?
I 100% agree. I love the course and would be one in the US I’d love to play, but the event is a car crash. There’ll be shouts of mashed potato, players pulling on NFL jerseys to hit shots, beer cans thrown across the hole etc.

Glad I’m not around for this week for it. I’ll just find out who won on Monday and that’ll do me.

He has such an underrated swing when you watch him, it’s absolutely flawless. Just never seems to get the same plaudits that other swings do for whatever reason

It’s my favourite swing to watch. So repeatable, performs under pressure and his tempo is as you said flawless.

He’s a modest and extremely professional guy so he doesn’t get the credit others with bigger personalities or controversial views do.

Considering he missed something like his first 20 cuts Consecutively as a pro he’s gone on to have a phenomenal career. Would love him to win another major or 2.

Yep. Just have to remember that next week is Pebble Beach which is awesome. They just throw this bobbins in for contrast. At least the sponsor’s name is appropriate…

Although he still had a good finish when spieth won, I always felt those two playoffs at Augusta almost get forgotten about given how popular sergio and obviously rory were as winners, he was unreal, and probably wins that most other years the way he played
