Sorry to once more bring up a post on balls however this offer has very much captured my attention. http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_balls/titleist/pro_v1_practice_golf_balls_dozen_golf_balls/p9406 Perfect balls with only minor aespheticael blemishes.

I was looking to buy some balls for around £20 a dozen and these have to be worth a go surely. Even if I can't use them in comps (there is a chance I could) 2 dozen should see me through most of my years social rounds.

What do people think? As direct golf put it 'a once in a lifetime' opportunity?

My club pro has these at £19.99 per dozen. Apparently according to him they are legal for club competitions. As someone wit a bit of a ball maountain building up they are not for me but if someone who has asked about top quality balls on other threads wants to try a Pro V out this is an inexpensive way of seeing what a premium ball can do

No comment. I use real ones.

Thanks...really constructive! :D

By saying this I presume you are actually trying to answer the question by saying you wouldn't bother you would buy new ones as you don't believe the performance will be the same...right?

:D

I found one one day and used it for the remainder of the round and there was no difference in my opinion other that "PRACTICE" stamped on the side.

Good value every day balls in my opinion, certainly far better value than lake balls/refurbs which are mince!

That's a bit steep when you could buy brand new, perfect Srixon URC / URS.

If you can handle the piss taking from your mates when you pull them out on the tee go for it.

Hey Pooh-Bah
I went down the refurbished pro v1 avenue a couple of seasons ago, i went to a website and found pearl grade pro v1x's for a similaair price to what you have found them for but to be honest every ball seemed to perform differently and i came to the conclusion it is a way better idea to buy a cheaper 2 peice ball (say the Srixon AD333) and have them brand new with every ball behaving in the same manner.

If you really belive a ball will make that much differance your deluded. Hit it straight, get to single figures or low teens, then you may notice a differance.

Admittedly some balls may go further or straighter or what ever. But give rory mcilroy a range ball and me a proV1 and he will still beat me every time.

Refurbs are totally different to the Pro V practice balls. Most if not all these balls come from the Tour Practice range and are genuine balls unlike the re-furbs which are second chance cr@p.

I've been using the official titleist practice pro v's, and they're excellent value for money.

They conform to both USGA and R&A rules.

This is what titleist say;

"Pro V1 Practice golf balls are conforming products that differ only due to a cosmetic blemish such as paint, ink or registration of stamping. Pro V1 Practice golf balls do not have any construction or performance deficiencies."

"Our present policy provides that if the List of Conforming Golf Balls or the One Ball Condition is in effect, a practice or logo ball may be used provided the other markings on the ball (i.e., pole and seam) correspond exactly to a ball listing on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls. Balls labeled with ''PRACTICE'' or a circled ''P'', are essentially treated as a logo ball (such as a Mickey Mouse emblem). A player's name stamped on the ball is also acceptable. However, the original ball markings (i.e., pole and seam markings) must be readable in order for a Rules Official to determine whether that ball is on the List of Conforming Golf Balls."

There's nothing not to like about these balls. [

I brought a few practice balls back from the Open. I picked them up at the end of the range.

If this is what these are (the ones supplied to comps) for the pros, I can't see why not.

The question is....do Titleist just give loads away to pro comps and protect their trade/interests by stamping "practice" on them, or do they have a grading system at the factory and use the visually-fine seconds?

Either way....how has someone got a load to sell?
Maybe there are too many at Titleist HQ and they are flogging them on?

Dunno. Seems a fair buy

There we go.....well found....

Direct golf do ProVs for £29 a dozen. That is a good price for the best ball. I still don't buy them, as I probably have about 50 new ones in my cupboard. I wouldn't buy anything else, but I don't remember the last time I bought any balls.
