Played 18 holes today and for the first 8 I managed to drive the ball straight, but my slice crept back into my game (Driver), so I think a lesson or two is required. don't get me wrong, I had 6 lessons last summer, but the pro didn't fill me with confidence. The slice is the most frustrating part of my game!

Can anyone recommend a pro in and close to the Manchester/Salford area?

Not manchester/salford, but probably only 15 miles away.

I went to TFG in Widnes recently and Steve is brilliant, nice fella, sincere and genuinely enthusiastic. Sorted my game out no end.

I used to have a terrible slice, No lessons at all ive turned it into a pretty straight shot with slight fade now.
Used to go miles with the slice now its staighter its just amazing to see

not neccessarily usefuly but I too have a fade/slice, I was working on it last night after watching a few vids on youtube (Mark Crossfield and a shawn clements one), I made a few notes, took them to the range and took my time over setup etc and lo and behold I was drawing the ball.

A lesson wont cure it (I have tried) but practising the right drills will imho

good luck though cos its a bugger to get rid of in my experience :D

I have used this guy in the past and he is VERY good -http://www.garethbensongolf.co.uk/

He doesn't blow you away with technical information, he just adapts your swing gradually to make improvements.. He has all the kit as well. If I lived a little bit closer I would use him more, but he's not too far from you...

I had a fade/slice but my pro altered my grip slightly by 'stengthening' my left hand i.e. turning it clockwise so 2 knuckles were showing at address. Slice gone - occasional fade but mainly straight - and occasional tiny draw!

Lessons work for me. Had a series of 6 during which my short game was transformed. Just need to prove it when the comps start:fore:.

Give Craig Corrigan ring at Haigh Hall Wigan 01942 831107 they have a great set up and it only £17.50 for 1/2 hour if you book 4 lesson you the fifth one free.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.

Bluewolf, I watched the vid re slicing a ball on the link you posted, plus I've picked up a tip from watching Mark Crossfield, so first and foremost I think I'll hit the range tomorrow and see if I can sort this myself.
