Anyone suggest a site where I can get a rough idea of a private car sale price so I can compare against a trade in offer.

Ta.

Webuyanycar.

Used them for one of my daughters, and my wifes last car change. Both times they were better in valuation and final settled figure.
Sorry, I think I may have misunderstood. Glasses guide is the trade bible on trade in I believe. However we just went on similar prices on Autotrader and what was being offered to us.

Had a look at both but both seem to suggest that the trade in price is the same as what I get for mine privately, which I can't quite believe !

Sadly the internet has done that as people have greater access to all the tools of the trade so to speak.
Ultimately if your car is a desireable one then happy days, if however it's one like my wifes last car that isn't a popular or liked badge, or fuel type for a dealer then WBAC could give you more.....it did for my wife to the tune of £1K

A few years ago I sold a Nissan X trail on Autotrader. You put the details and a few photos in and they suggest what they think the car is worth then produce a really good ad.

It’s true you do get a few time wasters but I sold it for £1500 more than “we buy any car offered” me.

An alternative would be motorway.co.uk

But just did a test for my wife's old Jazz and webuyanycar were top.
However, my son just sold his Volvo. webuy wanted to drop the price by £1000 on inspection. Evans Halshaw didn't and got the business.

parkers.co.uk

You used to able to buy the guide in shops built it is a long time since I checked.

It is a bit London orientated where prices tend to be much lower than the regions.

honestjohn.co.uk

autotrader.co.uk

Also check current and sold prices on ebay

Do a search for cars for sale nornally shows up both private sales and trade sales

i need to get rid of the XC60.. so looking at WBAC. i also did a valuation from the guys on carwow... they promise £100 more. Trade in value is lower. I am told all online valuers will try and drop the price when they inspect the car.

My biggest problem is that whichever way i cut it, I am in negative equity.
