Played up at Princes golf club on Tuesday and found one of these interesting things on the golf course. Luckily my ball wasn't in it but I had to go in there and take a photo just because of the size of it! I know there will be bigger bunkers out there but was just wowed by it!
This was my first attempt at playing proper links golf and it was pretty special. Now all I need to do is play Royal St. George's and some courses up the North West coast and I'll be happy!image.jpg

Princes was also my first experience of proper links golf - and I fell in love with the environment as soon as I saw it!

There's also Royal Cinque Ports nearby - making up the triumvirate of South Coast courses that have held The Open. Not as expensive (nor grand apparently) as RSG, but a classic links challenge all the same.

Princes was my first experience of links golf but it was seeing RSG just over the fence that really got me excited. Played there the next day. WOW!

To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, that's not a bunker. This is a bunker!

I managed to par that hole from that bunker (which I should never have been in!)!

The bunker that made me say 'Wow!' is sadly no more! It was 'The Gobi Desert' at Moatlands, a huge expanse of sand 'servicing' both 9th and 18th greens (from memory).

But small ones can be just as evil! There are many such traps on The Old Course with 'just enough room for an angry man and his mashie!' that can be just as frustrating as The Road Hole Bunker!
