Prime Drink - Can someone explain…..

The power of social media and 'influencers'. It's why they get the big bucks.

All comments aside it is actually quite interesting. In years gone by celebrities endorsed products and got paid for that. But some figured out that if they owned or had a stake in the product they could make even more money. Think the George Forman grill or celebrity make up brands. The best example for this case is probably "vitamin water" - 50 cent has made more money off that than he's made as a rapper. Clearly these 2 jokers have an audience (and it's not middle aged golfers)

Kylie Jenner apparently worth over $1b.
They’re certainly doing better than any of us ?‍♂️

Those 2 jokers have about 30 million YouTube subscribers between them and if you have kids of the right age they'll be watching them plus the sidemen amongst others . People go crazy for celebrity products, nothing new, just now we can see it on twitter.

Only read about this earlier today.and now our village post office has posted on FB that they have in stock, but have to spend at least £10 to buy a max of one of each flavour. I can believe that there are that many who have fallen for the hype.

I can explain. Common sense is unfortunately not that common and statistically a fraction under 50% of the population are of below average intelligence. That combination leads to scenes like these.

Not even sure if it's a thing here but assume it is, although I'm never in the fizzy drink aisle at the supermarket anyway so it'll just pass me by
I think I remember seeing a pallet of tyson drinks once and didn't give it a second glance either

Stunned that some people can be so easily 'influenced'

It’s not a new thing really.
Celebs have been endorsing things & people being influenced for a long time.
In this case it is aimed at the younger generation.

I remember a few years back when M&S had some Heston Blumental desert for Christmas and middle aged people bought it all. It’s not just a youth thing.

Very true. How many have bought a golf garment because they saw Rory or similar wearing it?!

Still think anyone being so easily influenced needs an IQ Test but that's just me :-)

We can all be easily influenced, but many (if not most) of us are sufficiently self-aware to not act irrationally as a result.

Well not me, yes I buy golf gear, but other than Tiger wearing Nike I'd be hard pushed to say who pushed what, and in the case of Nike I didn't buy their stuff precisely because Tiger wore it, so, anti-marketing

No of schools have banned it.. some school still allow it. There is a fair bit of trade happening among the kids.

Excellent business model where the influencers have driven a craze. Then there is artificial scarcity. Only allow 3 per person. Then spread news of fights breaking out, peer pressure etc. driving sales up big time. My friend travelled to India. His nephew asked him for Prime as Christmas gifts. A few of the school dads are on various waiting lists and have rocked up early to get it

At nipper’s school some of the boys brought it in. He tasted it and apparently tasted of ‘Calpol’. Thankfully he is not bought into it.

It's worrying that these excuses for Pondlife have so much influence over people....let's hope they don't branch out into more dangerous territory
As it happens my lad has worked with KSI on a gig and tells that he’s a good guy and a great rapper - as well as co-owner of the Prime drink (so no surprises that he promotes it). The response of those ‘influenced’ is the head-scratcher…
