played here last night with Mr ALL Green aka Faybian, bloody windy so it was. it was the first time i have played here and its a nice links coast. greens were consistant and views great. im not a fan of playing a course for the first time. but im sure i will like it more once i get another game. i thought the Irish man was trying a bit of gamesmanship at one point. he told me the line was the left of the flats but i could see a flag way left. so i went at the flag, he didnt tell me it was a dog leg right!!!! and i was going at the wrong flag.
at the furthest away part of the course it was that windy i swear Ailsa Craig (for sale at 1.5 million) moved closer to us!!! i could easily play the rest of my life on this course and can see why Faybian raves about it.
really enjoyed it but it was too windy. the last par 3 227 straight into the wind i went 3 iron left with 77 yards tough par 3 into the wind and clubhouse and carpark all within range of bigSLICE.
cant wait to play it again cheers Faybian with your dodgy white trainers with green laces

Sounds like you had a great day despite the wind, just sorry I had to pull out but hopefully one day soon I will get over for a game.

nice views although it was pretty dark but i know whats out there. and the water is just right there! was really windy and i reckon its a tough course when it blows but enjoyable

Better than Bogside?

come on:rolleyes:, as im going to play bogside forever then the answer is no. out of all the course ive played (not that many) the only course better than Bogside is the Ailsa.

Put your rose tinted specs away. Bogside is tougher but its boring compared to St Nicks. St Nicks has character, it has a great variation of holes and plays more "linksy" than Bogside.

Bogside, great track, tough as old boots but for me St Nicks edges it as it has a better selection of holes and offers more fun.

perhaps when i become a single handicapper i may be in a position to call bogside 'boring'. but at the moment i call it exciting because every round for me has drama and its fun. i really enjoyed st nicks and i did say i could play there for ever. i love blind tee shots aiming for a marker post and i love links golf.
