Pre Shot Routine

nothing wrong with a practice swing or two. a couple of quick swipes will take all of 4/5 seconds. you can do it as you settle into the shot. you can also see if you are throttling the club.

many people who take the club either way inside or way outside will get an idea of where they are going to take the club. if you are one of these people and small half way back swing would really benefit you imo.

it can loosen some tension if nervous and tightness if stiff.

there is a million reasons to take a practice swing. take one or two if you please. just be ready when its you go and no one can complain.

I don't always take one but if im standing at my ball waiting then im sure I automatically start a little prep for the shot without thinking.

Yes I do have lessons, to improve as a player and to TRY and replicate my fantastic practise swing.........

It would be interesting to see you in trees trying to plan your escape shot knowing that you have a restricted backswing? Do you not rehearse how far you can take your club back? Or do you stand next to your ball and just flail away with your club and hope for the best? Must be a great attribute that if a shot requires a right to left ball flight to get around a tree to get to the green that you can pull it out of your bag without some form of practise swing/rehearsal/feeling for that shot? Phew.......... Let me bow down.

Oh dear.

Don't bother. It is me that needs to bow. I have played cat 1 golf for over 20 years and I cannot hit a precise shot around a tree to order, irrespective of how many practice swings I might want to have. The fact that you can is more than impressive.

Lessons after 40 years of play? I admire your dedication and willingness to invest. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks eh? :)

And to clarify, I wasn't talking about shots when you are restricted in the trees - apologies if that wasn't clear.

in all fairness 3565 talks about moving a ball with a certain shape, not precisely.

heres bubba hitting the most famous hook of recent times. watch the small half back swing as hes settling into the ball. an absolute key part of him pulling of this shot.

even bubba wasn't trying to get it that close. just in the general area he wanted! he just happen to get it perfect !

Apologies to Snelly for last comment, as I didn't see his apology as I was retorting to his previous post. I will delete it, if I know how :mmm:
