Potential idea for another forum match?

We all know we keep having inter-forum comps, what with the England vs Scotland a couple of months back, North v South next week and the NW bitches about to get pummeled by us NE boys....

Hows about we challenge the Todays Golfer forum? Might be a stupid idea as I have no idea how many members they have and how active it is!

But, we could do it for charity, get individual sponsorship etc and do it for the Golf Foundation to make it a bit more competitive.

Does anyone here go on TG forums and know if its busy???

I had a look the other night as I entered a couple of competitions and it was pretty quiet. OK it was snoresville but it has been for a while. I can't comment much further as I've been accused of TG bashing. I've given my opinion.

I have to say though I like the idea in principle but as with most of these events it would be finding a suitable location etc that allows as many of our guys and theirs to participate. Maybe a few localised challenged to set the ball rolling (south, north, Scotland etc)

Sweet jesus there is more life in a morgue!!

Anyone know of any other golf forums or is ours the only one worth shouting about?

Best option would be the Golf Magic forum. They have a load of members and a few of our forum members are also part of that forum.

I've been a member on Golf Magic for some time and am organising the "North versus South" game next week-end via that. I know that a few from this forum are attending but the take up from Golf Magic was much greater, as it was for the Addington visit back in March.
I don't mind putting out the word.

And Homer....I would not consider Golf Magic a "lesser" forum. Very active membership, some really nice people on there and some bloody good golfers to boot..

Not the first time that other mags or forums have been described as "inferior".
Not a nice attitude to be honest.
Homer...you need to remember that some members on here are members of other golf forums too

How is going to be best to work it then? Maybe 1 national match would be a bit too much for some, so maybe a regional thing would be the way to go, we could try 3 seperate games, Scotland, North & South playing singles matchplay?

Still early days though obviously so lets get the format & some tentative dates sorted.

We have the NE vs NW at the end of June already, and we need to give ourselves enough time to get it organised.

Nice idea but lets not waste an excuse to get together for a match waiting for another forum. There are more than enough tribes to pick sides here. What about a big meet somewhere central with as many regions as possible.

I was actually talking about TG but can see how that would have read re other forums so apologies for that. I'm happy to accept the challenge and I'll come back to you in due course with some dates (we're running into the main competition season so most weekends are starting to be fully booked).

I've seen how much work you've done on the North v South and looking forward to seeing some pics and reports so I can get it featured in the mag as testament to the effort you've put in. I hope the weather sorts itself for you and its a great day.

I posted about the possibility of a Golf Monthly versus Golf Magic forum match on the Magic site yesterday and already have 10 people interested in taking part subject to date and venue.
I would personally prefer a day out somewhere, ideally centrally, to enable as many people to attend as possible. 36 holes, betterball matchplay in the morning with singles in the afternoon.
I would be more than happy to take on the organisation of the venue etc. as I love doing these sorts of thing. I would also be prepared to act as captain for the Golf Magic team if KeefG were prepared to act as captain for the Golf Monthly side (he suggested it after all).
With enough preparation this could be a superb day out, with the chance to meet up with different people. I'm all for that. It doesn't even have to be this year, we could get the ball rolling for an event to take place next Spring to make it really work!
I have suggested to KeefG that he starts another thread specifically aimed at drumming up enough support to get a Golf Monthly team together. As I say, I have 10 interested players from Golf Magic and only posted about it yesterday!
