Postman Pat .... oops .. Fabio Capello

To be honest, friendlies during the season are now daft. Mysterious injuries appear and the managers end up with kids, NI had noone With over 12 caps to pick from yesterday as the top players need to be fit for their respective clubs and their league matches. The only thing they're good for is getting exposure and experience for the younger greener lads, but even then it is only semi competitive. They still want to win but the killer instinct is diluted.

another problem is that players, strickers in particular, are not encouraged to take responsibility. the function of the stricker is to score goals, you don't do that by passing sideways or backwoods at every opportunity so that someone else can take the heat from an over-opinionated journo or never-was commentator when it all goes wrong.
I would have no problem with them at least having a crack whenever they get in 50/50 range instead of looking for the 100% shot before they'll even try.
