Villamura Old Course is the only course I have ever had to produce a handicap certificate at. Better make sure and have one with you.

Great courses. If you can, my other choice would be Abama. Golf De Sur should be avoided.

Didnt need my certificate on any courses in portugal - including the old course!
laranjal is nice - very walkable - their electric trolleys pull to the right - just take an ordinary one!
buggies - the quinto courses were a pain. they made you take buggies, then you could only take them onto about 4 fairways. makes for a very slow round

enjoy!

hopefully the weather is kind for you

one of my fave holes ever is on the old course - the par 3 4th ;)

Hope he took your advice Clive. That's one of the two places I've been asked to produce mine. Mate of mine didn't have his with him (forgot to take it) and he lied to the girl on reception and said that he must have left it at Quinta do Lago the previous day. She even rang there to check up. Big row ensued at the reception desk and she was standing her ground....until a manager of some description came down and calmed things down.

Similar situation with me. We were on a British Airways organised holiday which had a golf competition over the week, staying at Quinta do Lago but playing most of the local courses. We handed our handicap certs to the rep at the beginning of the week and arrived at the Old Course but he had forgotten to bring them. Imagine 50 disgruntled players argueing with the pro, starter and rep, but they still wouldn't let us play until the staff at Quinta managed to get into the rep's room find the certificates and fax every one to Villamura!
