Apologies if a bit self indulgent but thought some may find of interest,
Got back on Thursday from a four day coaching trip to the Algarve with Andy Carter and Chris Fletcher of ImproveMYGOLF. Was based at the Morgado resort where we played the two on site courses Morgado and Alamos and travelled about 30 minutes to play Salgados on the last day.
Andy and Chris did a 30 minute clinic each morning followed by another 90 minutes on the range/practice area where we could work on whatever we wanted with one of them always in close attendance to give plenty of help and advice where needed. We then played 18 holes in the afternoon with both of them playing or walking a number of holes with each group. They are really nice blokes and as well as the golfing side, played a full part in the post round and late night/early morning socialising.
They were never without their cameras so expected to see a few shots appear on their YouTube channel at some stage but wasn't prepared for what happened on Wednesday. We had a Ryder Cup style Team Carter v Team Fletcher match but as there were 18 of us there had to be one singles as well as the four fourball matches. I was drawn to play Andy in the singles match and was looking forward to a four hour playing lesson with a pro. In the morning Chris said that it was a bit unfair so he would play with me as well so I've now got a four hour playing lesson with two pros. When we got to the course I was a bit concerned to see them bring out the more heavy duty camera gear and when I asked Chris he casually mentioned that they were going to film a course vlog.
Without as much as a practice swing, there I am on the first tee being introduced to the viewers !. Was as nervous a first shot as I've had to hit and although conscious of the camera throughout (trying not to swear after a bad shot) it did get less nerve-wracking as the round progressed. I promised them I wouldn't give the result away so if anyone was interested in watching they will have to visit their channel. Video not uploaded yet but think we filmed it in three parts, we filmed every other hole and typically my better moments came on the "other" holes. Although I haven't seen any film yet, can I get in early and say that I have heard that the camera puts 10 lbs on you !
