Just a jolly for him and McManus. Surprsing choce though given the field and the money available in the desert but he must have a reason.

Did he take up his pga card? Maybe it is an easy one for him to stick down as an event played? Failing that, there is prob good coin available in the states and maybe he enjoys the craic and the more relaxed atmosphere of the pro am event.

Maybe the money in Dubai doesn't bother him and would rather play in a Pro Am with his mates JP and Desmond, on a course that he likes not everyone likes the desert.He did an interview which was on Sky Sports and spoke about where he started playing and the type of shots he hit,good listening.

He has been friends with JP for a long time and they play together in it alot.....Even back here at home....

" The fact that it is a pro-am means that I get to play with JP for the week, which is always something that I look forward too. Over the years I have played ok here, never quite getting myself into contention, the main reason for which is the fact that the tournament comes so early in my season. This year it comes early for me again - I have only played in two tournaments and in one of them I only got to play one round.
This tournament is different to the others that I play on the PGA Tour as it is a pro-am and this particular week the golfers are actually playing second fiddle. As much as this is a golf tournament it is more about the celebrities than the golfers. The players are all on the range looking around at the celeb,s putting names to them and talking about them. I like it, as it is a distraction from the norm, every other week we are the star attraction so for one week it is actually nice to be the supporting actors. It makes the other weeks all the better."

Is it me or does his swing look better ? Last year he looked like he was trying to hit it hard, but tonight he looked in more control. Maybe me after a couple of sherbets, everything always seems better .

Always easy to knock it round with your mates and play well. The real golfers are in Dubai. Putting it on the line. Playing for ranking points, Ryder cup points, etc. Paddy should be there.
Have to agree. Surely you want to be playing againt the best all the time and given that the top 3 are all there no real excuses for not wanting to beat them

As much money that there is on offer in Dubai it is still small compared to the prize pool in the US this week. I believe the winner takes just over 300,000 euro in Dubai, it's over $1.1million in US.
Unless of course you are Tiger and getting paid $3,000,000 just to show up????

haha, reminded me of when I was a chef in the army attached to the Queens Own Highlanders on exercise, put sugar in the porridge, nearly lynched me then I put mixed veg etc in the mince..... I was not popular that week haha
