Popping down the range later........

Don't know if you've left already Bob? How about a vid for the masses showing EXACTLY how you make your grip...pick up the club, position the club, how the left hand sits, how it feels, where the pressure is, how your right hand sits on top,,,, as much as you can explain clearly.

do you want him to hit it for you too ? ;) nah this sounds good, you might need some help with a camera man though!

Was more concerned with general shot making.
There's lots about pressure points in the Golf machine book if you'd like to plough through all the scientific jargon.

I hope the battery in your camera is fully charged :mmm:

Should only take your about 3 days to film these suggestions :D

Thanks for the bunker film. Developing that topic, what do you do if there's hardly any sand in the bunker? I never know if you stick with the technique or just try to "pick it" clean, more like a chip than a splash....

Or conversely enough sand to sink into your knees in?? Our course has just built a few new bunkers and they are dreadful. Forget bouncing the club off the base or you'd probably end up in Oz....any tips? I try to pick it clean when they're shallow lips but not so easy on the steeper sided ones....

Me again! The 30-40-50 yard pitch....what do you see as the main reason for shanking them? Hands too close or swinging too far back and quitting on the shot or not getting through the shot and steering it??

Or none of the above??

how are you getting on with the hybrid now amanda?

Ah well now then.... My game has been in tatters for a few weeks apart from my driver and putter BUT last few rounds have been a heap better. I feel more comfortable with the G20 than I did although feel that it just isn't as forgiving as the G5. I can't tell if it's that I can feel a mis-hit more from the G20 or that the end result of the mis-hit isn't as forgiving as the G5 but am thinking it's the former. I really feel when it's anything but off the sweet spot which doesn't actually feel that big...

I am however looking down on it and seeing a club head I can hit a ball with which is better than before. So still a work in progress I guess.

Ohhh yes please, the way they rake the bunkers at our club is to drive the tractor and rake into them, not sure if that's standard practice but it doesn't half compact the sand to the point where sometimes you have little or no sand below the ball to work with. I find I'm grand if I can attack the ball and take a fair amount of sand but if I've got a delicate one and no sand to work with I either thin it through the back or quit on it.

By the way - thanks Bob!

i know the feeling. im still slicing my woods and now hybrid quite a bit. havnt been to the range in weeks due to the good weather. might get a few visits this week as its not as nice.

Done already Gareth.
Narrow stance aiming feet, hips and shoulders left.
Ball position FORWARD in your stance.
Hold middle or bottom of the grip.
Try and get the club to enter the sand about 3-4 inches behind the ball and go 2-3 inches deep
Give it a full swing following your body line
It will come out high and softly
