You could have had the Glasheady at Ballyliffin as it has held the senior Irish open twice? Would get my vote nearly every time.

I would say CS still needs a few years to bring on a little more ruggedness that it lacks slightly in my opinion. The waste areas will become a little trickier and off line drives will be make greens in regulation very difficult. I particularly like the massive bunkers surrounding most of the greens, good sand and from what I remember undulating greens. The 14th green looked like an elephants graveyard with a massive hump towards the rear of the green.

RCD is pretty authentic and pulls the americans in like flies round poo, I wouldnt say it was anything other than traditional links and they get a lot of returning custom from the US.

I cant wait to play it again this year (even more so than the old links course), I really hope we get the sunshine again but with a little more wind as it was tricky enough with just little gusts.

If you can you should venture that little bit further and come down to me, play Portsalon and Sandy Hills at Rosapenna another two REALLY good course (although I am slightly biased  ) Seriously Sandy Hills is another cracking modern links course.

I have only played Loch Lomond, Mount Juliet and the 2010 course on this list so can really only go from what I have seen and read in the media on the rest. Of the three I have played, all were a disappointment and I would not rush back to play any of them again.

Against this context, I voted for Kingsbarns. Not because I just wanted to go for the opposite stance to Dodger (!) but simply because I have an open mind on the others and from what I have seen, it looks to be the nicest of the list. I might be completely wrong of course!

And relative to the discussion on modern links, I have a mate who is a member at Doonbeg and he says it is terrific. He is a traditional links man and a member at Lahinch too so he knows his onions.
