Police going OTT!

MIB important lesson for you, never ever come on here looking for sympathy when something goes wrong. This isn't that kind of forum mate you will always but always find someone who enjoys putting the boot in. I once had a golf club go missing with Hermes, came on here to tell people. 5 posts in it was all my fault. You find them all on here pal.

Wasn't looking for sympathy. Just thought the whole investigation / offer of counselling was quite funny.

maybe it went to the doctors

When I forst read the OP I thought you said you left your Range Rover on the T. I was shocked, and was intrigued as to whether the Police arrested you for such a hideous crime .

But the more important question is : why would you go after them with a Sand Wedge. Did you consider head weight to shaft length ratio in this decision, just interested to know where you think your short game is at

Just to end this thread on a positive note, my insurers received my claim yesterday & today I got a phone call telling me the replacement is being sent to my by Direct Golf today. http://www.carrickneill.co.uk/fsgolf.html for anyone interested, they do their insurance in conjunction with the EGU. This is the second time in 20 years I have had to make a claim & dealing with them is a pleasure. Highly recommended if you're looking for insurance.

This doesn't seem to sit with me well

You lost your item through your own fault by leaving it unattended and walking away

So you want to claim it stolen and the insurers want a police report number

So did you tell them you left it and walked away ?

Is it really something that should be covered by insurance and possibly be a reason why insurance increases

yep, i pay more on my house insurance for such instances. not that i am prone to losing things.. unlike my wife......

Yep - I have seen people spill stuff onto a telly then claim for a new one ?! Think it's wrong

How can I put this clearly enough! Yes I left it behind, then someone STOLE it i.e. found something that clearly belonged to someone else & kept it. Would you do that? I'm damned sure I wouldn't. It is stealing plain & simple, stealing is taking something that doesn't belong to you. If people had been honest it would have been handed in or left where it was to be retrieved. Neither happened.

Sorry but you don't know where it is right now so can't state with certain it was stolen.

You lost it - you left it behind - someone didn't go through your stuff and remove it from your possession.

That's not theft and as I asked did you say that you left it behind and didn't go looking for it afterwards for over an hour to either the police or the insurers.

Why so confrontational..??
Assuming the unit was covered for loss or theft, the Insurance company would have paid up anyway.

I'm not being confrontational

I'm giving my opinion.

Yes, I gave the insurers and the police the full facts. No, I don't know where it is, but someone else's possession is a pretty good guess. It was a Bushnell two lens rangefinder so I don't think it blew away or got carried off by a magpie. Someone may have put it in their bag & forgot about it, but it's been 10 days now &, don't forget, the next pair on the tee left the course immediately after playing the hole I left it on, before I had a chance to ask them if they'd picked it up. The police will have spoken to them, they know who they are.

This is my last word on the subject. Nothing more to add.
