I am starting to get addicted to this programme.
I am facinated by the replies from the 100 audience replies to questions in 100 seconds.
For example only 87% recognised the Earth as a planet.

The other day was priceless.
The category was Scottish songs and their singers. They stuck up five titles of songs and the contestants had to name which Scottish singers had sung them, the least likely correct reply from the 'audience' wins, [that means zero is a good score.]

One of the titles was 'My old man's a dustman'. Sung of course by Laurence Donegans dad Lonnie.
Reply from one contestant..........Bob Dylan.

I record it and watch it when I get in from work, I really enjoy the banter, amazed today to see 11 people(?) couldn't identify a picture of planet earth -what planet are they from?

Its a fairly intelligently constructed quiz program, with a balance of risk against knowledge. Innovative and plays with the power of statistics. Of course not all are as would be expected but with any sample the true population distribution is never really known until everything is sampled, which is usually impracticable.

Personally I find collecting general knowledge a waste of space in my head which I could fill with computer, golf, science or other things I deem essential. Hence why I am rubbish in pub quizzes!

I loved the episode a couple of nights ago where a mother and daughter got to the final and stood to win £18,000, The daughter was insistant on choosing "modern artists" as the subject and then looked totally blank when asked to name Turner Prize nominees. Turns out she was expecting pop singers! They didn't win.

I always try to get home in time to watch it then flick straight over to BBC2 for Eggheads

Yeah another fan here, quite like The Chase too, but as they clash, Pointless wins out. The Modern Artists moment was funny and sad.

Not a great fan of Eggheads but I will be watching tomorrow as the Golfing Girls will be on, they are from my club but they wont say how they did.

Eggheads are bare smug innit

According to my niece

Really enjoy Pointless, hate Eggheads especially the fella who pretends he knows the answer to everyone else's questions, then usually gets knocked out (can't think of his name)

The thing that puts me off Eggheads is the smug way they explain their answers, but when I mentioned it to one of the ones in our team they said that they were told to elaborate, so I guess it isn't all the Eggheads teams fault.

Just watched on the iplayer - really hoping the 11 people (it was 89 that got it but anyway!) that didn't get Earth just ran out of time before giving their final answer!

They should have had me in the team, sadly I wasnt a member at the time.

Bit unlucky Eggheads guessed well when they didnt know, our girls guessed badly.
