I've been thinking of joining a club again but struggling to justify the full fees given the amount of golf I will actually play. Additionally one of the 2 courses I would join has a fairly hefty joining fee, essentially ruling it out.

The other, which I might actually prefer, but have only played it once and that was this winter. Offers membership through PlayMore Golf for £350 per year. Which on the face of it seems good value. Especially given the times I would play at are using the fewest points.

But is there a catch somewhere that I am missing? I'm not fussed about playing weekend comps or being on the name boards. Been there done that.

Thanks

The main catches are likely to be access to many competitions and access to course at busy times. Sounds like neither of those would affect you.
Probably some courses offering it may also be on other schemes like those where can pay reduced green fees through a site.
Good luck.
