Lately i have been playing with better players than myself and what a difference its made to my game.Firstly i played with pieman and barum blue at Saunton[great company]and watching Pieman drive the ball has helped considerably due to a smoother tempo, also playing with lower handicappers in our wednesday comps has made me realise i should be single figures soon as ive been beating them regulary and it has boosted my confidence. The playing other peoples game question is because at first i was copying what they did instead of my course managment game taking driver because they did instead of laying up and playing my game.Have any of you learnt from playing with better players or did it mess up your game due to trying to copy them.

Great to hear your confidence is sky high and fingers crossed you will be in single figures soon :D

I too enjoy playing with better golfers when given the opportunity, as like you, I learn so much. My driving is a lottery at best, but watching 2 older guys (both pensioners) still playing off 6 due to terrific short games is a real eye-opener.

Just need to give it the much needed practice time and I can start my descent towards the holy grail of single figures :p

I like playing with low handicappers as they hit it a far distance. therefore i challenge them and try to beat them. on many occasions i do but you can see that it is their putting that gives them a 2/3 HC

a few weeks ago i played with a guy off 4. he made a 7 on the first (par 3) so all his handicap gone - just like to point out i made par. however on the 2nd i made a 13 eekkkk. was annoyed at myself as i don't like playing badly with low handicappers as then they won't play with me again. but after that i had a run of about 8 pars and was on the tee more often than not

No.

But if it's helping you, then good luck to you.
Made a few replies about this and always play better against or with good players. I always ask them to tell me what I'm doing wrong and try to take it onboard. the majority always help and their advice is more than welcome. ;)

I listened to a a playing partner that plays off 6 and he told me drop the driver..I did and im playing alot better for it...Also i try mimic him when i play with him....He has a forward press something i never did but since doing this i find im hitting my Irons more crisply....
