I'm having a distinct lack of available playing partners recently and am getting golf withdrawal symptoms. I've been up the driving range but it's not the same.

So I've thought about just going any play a round on my own for feel and practice.

Has anyone else played or regularly play on their own and if you did/do, did you feel a bit of an idiot?

I play on my own quite abit as none of my mates are really in to golf. I don't feel an idiot at all. I do feel I play better when with someone though. I love going out first thing in the morning with the course to myself, especially on a nice sunny morning.

Frequently, and no, I don't feel an idiot. It's good for practicing at your own pace. I usually wander around the course if there is a queue at a tee rather than asking to play through.

I'm int he same boat. Recently took it up and although I'm in a society that play once a month I'm very eager to get out more often than all my mates.

So I've had to play a few 9 holes by myself. I certainly dont feel an idiot playing by myself and I've found i can get round 9 holes pretty quick.

Deffo better than the range, much better practice.

I do it regularly either after work for nine holes or late in the day at the weekend. Good if you are working on changes and want to try them out without the pressure of a card and pencil or the glare and banters of your mates. I wouldn't like to do it all the time though as there is nothing better than comps and roll ups where the craic is harder than the course

I have gone out on my own and played 9 holes a few times after work, I find it so relaxing as soon as I step off the first tee, great stress buster.

I've no problem with playing on my own. In fact I quite enjoy it and, strangely enough, often have my best rounds! It usually happens if my regular golfing buddy cries off because it's raining or something - I feel iit's worth carrying on if I've made the effort to get there at 7.30am. Also, a number of members will stop off early evening on the way home and play 3 or 4 or 5 holes just to keep the feel of the course.

Were bouts you play Porno

Why on earth would you feel an idiot for playing a solo round?

Friday mornings are 'me time', solo round normally on the 1st tee for around 7:30, deserted course - heaven.

I used to do it all the time after work as no friends are regular golfers and never felt like an idiot. A lot of the time you can end up playing with random people and this leads on to playing with more regular groups.
I dont really get the chance to go out on my own much anymore as my lad always wants to come out with me now which is great fun.

Nothing wrong with playing alone. I play once on my own for every round with friends and business associates. It's nice to have a round with pals and have some banter but also enjoy the peace and quiet of a solo round, especially on the bright nights after a day at work
