What are the benefits of having a playing lesson with the club pro?

Is it worth having one as I am considering have one as I have now finished my block of six lessons.

Many thanks.

I had one this week and really enjoyed it. The pro can see how you actually play the course rather than just hitting shots on the practice ground.

Think theyre a great way to have a lesson especially if the pro doesnt know you that well.

He gets to see and thus teach you how you play golf rather than just how you swing a golf club. A decent pro will observe for a few holes then start to ask questions as to why youre making certain decisions, what shots youre trying to play and why etc should be able to advise on shot selection, course management, short game, putting rather than just the technicalities of your swing

The playing lesson is going to be more about course management and decision making. You will most likely have a regular miss and the pro can help you with how to play certain holes based on where to aim so your misses are not so costly and give yourself a chance at making par. It will also let the pro see how the swing looks and the technique holds up on the course when you are on different lies playing a variety of shots and playing one ball.

I had one over a year ago and picked up a bundle of tips about general play and also specific stuff on playing my own course.

I think they are excellent. It's easy to hit a ball off the mat, in fact ball after ball in a lesson but a playing one gives the pro a chance to see so much more. How do you set up to the ball, Are you picking a target. How do you play on a tight driving hole? He gets to see you off different lies and shots across the board. Try not to get too technical and just play normally and let him guide you
