So how did I do it? Well it was a Texas scramble and I was partnered by two good players. My game was rubbish I was cold and decidedly under the weather. To crown it all one of the others took it on himself to continually tell me what I was doing wrong, what club I should play etc....
Returned home clutching a bottle of wine and with a great cloud of depression hanging over me.
I think I will avoid team competitions for a while.

Don't let anyone put you off, we all have bad days on the course. Perhaps you need to let this partner know that you don't appreciate advice from patronising Leadbetter wannabees instead of suffering in silence. Don't know your handicap but if it is above 15 it will certainly have helped your team a lot by giving you shots. Don't be intimidated by better golfers, let them know how you feel!

It's the old saying - 'it's not how but how many' - but I must agree with you, there's a big element of 'how' in it.

I've hit many a crap shot that's finished well, thinned approaches that have finished dead, miss-hit putts that have dropped in the hole, but I can never bring myself to feel good about it.
