Tomorrow was going to be the first round of the year but have had a sore back since Saturday? god knows why? should i still play? Am desperate to get out there...

Gbc, I suffered badly with back pain in 2009 which got worse through the spring if 2010. Instead of trying to play through it I see a chiropractor who diagnosed the issue quickly. After around 5/6 sessions I was shown how to relief the pain with simple stretching and twisting excercises to the point where now I can release my back when it locks. I went through my gp many tines who had a standard reply " it's inflamed take neurofen "

Turned out my pelvis was twisted and a couple of discs had moved. It cost me around £300 to get my back sorted abd it was the best £300 I've spent in s long while. My personal opinion is that gp's will just fob you off. Get it seen to and I vet your sorted with 12-15 weeks. My chiro is also a golfer and gave me sone great warm up stretches to help prevent any upset.

Couple of Nurofen and away I go.
Just take it nice and very easy. Benefit of that , you probably will hit the ball much purer as your not trying to attack and kill the ball.

My pain wasn't caused by trying to murder the ball, it turned out I was sliding my hips through the ball and not turning. which was causing my penis to twist.

Did my back when I was 17 (18 years ago) - killed my cricket career. Flares up every 6 months or so but stretching alieviates it some extent and also strenghtening exercise with free weights and swiss ball have really helped - didn't stop me having to phone the pro to come and get me in a buggy last year though (pinched a disc)!! Will look into a chiropactor I think as it's getting more regular recently.

lol indead - thanks boys Nurofen it is will try the range first and then if that goes well 1st tee.... if after a few days or so the pain hasn't gone away will get some help

I had lower back pain for a few year after working in the big blue furniture warehouse part time whilst at uni.

a year after finishing uni and leaving the swedes, a friend introduced me to golf and it has sorted my back pain out. I have been told it was the motion of the swing which flexed the muscles and free'd up the nerve endings from the spine

Hooray for Neurofen..... Took it easy and (for me anyway) scored well, especially as it was my first round of the year.

A lesson for us all swing slower to hit it further rather than do what i usually try to do which is hit it into the next county
