Hi, not been around on here a while, but would like your comments on this matter please.
I tied the final score with 2 other guys at my club for a board (major) prize. The rule is for these comps we play off over 18 holes in another comp, we dont have to play together either.
I played 9ish and one other chap 930, was pouring down lot of rain on greens, spoke to pro and golf committee member after 11 holes they agreed course was "almost" unplayable, they said that if we have one more downpour, comp would be abandoned.
On 16th hole it poured down, got to 17th green big puddles I didnt even attempt to seek relief for my putt and hit towards hole eventually 3 stabbing with the thought in the front of my mind that the course would be closed.
The guy at 930 was of the same opinion and had been told the same.
I ended up scoring a 70
The 3rd play off player teed off 130pm in bright sunshine, played 18 in good conditions ending up with a 69.
My points, should the comp have been canxd after what I had been told?
Should all people in a play off tee off in consecutive groups so all play in similar conditions?
Not too happy, have raised the point but was told they decided course was playable!

If the course was not closed then tough.

That said all of you should have played together but if you were all told that you didn't need to then again that's tough luck.

You should have checked the forecast before picking your tee time!

Seems a strange way of deciding a board comp. Why is in not just done on best back nine, six etc ? If you are away on holiday for the next comp you are stuffed. Not heard of that way of deciding a competition, and it ended up a bit of a lottery.

I can see why you are agreeved but i think the result stands , now if you had walked in after you got the "one more shower" you might have had some recourse, just wondering, if in your opinion that shower was enough to close the course why did ye finish the round ? course is closed or not .. in respect of your other question in the event of a play off it should have just been the three of ye out together . the playoff time should be set before the main comp starts (say for instance, in the event of a playoff it will be played wed @4pm) you know before the comp started so if you cant make it , tough.. i find the playoff organisation very strange indeed.. just my opinion tho ,

Agree with those who say result stands. What I can't work out is how three of you can play at different times. Surely as you should all have been playing together and marking each others cards ( as good fellow competitors do ;) )
