Plastic carrier bags!

That was the point. Pleased it makes you smile, it makes me chuckle as well every so often as I ponder LT the character being on here.

Does it take some of the gravitas away though? :D

Soon be X'mas...

When the kids open their pressie's take a look at the amount of non-recyclable packaging...

'Single use' plassie bags are the mere tip of the iceberg...

Don't object to reusing bags in the supermarket but what happens when I buy clobber from George will they want 5p for the bag to put me new underclangers in?

Last year made some 'on the spur' purchases from a High Street retailer who then wanted to bill me for the bags... I don't, as a norm walk down High St. with a selection of 'just in case bags'... So walked leaving about forty quids worth of 'goodies' on the counter... Their loss I am afraid...

And don't forget about the disease and infection you will get from a plastic bag... but only if its a carrier! :D

We pay for them here and have done for years as well as having the bags for life at extra cost

Last budget there was a commitment to ban them completely inside 12 months... that's being re-thunk now

Good man.

Fair enough when you are going for the weekly shop, you'll take bags with you, but it rips my knitting when that happens.
It's not the 5p, it's the principle of it. Paying for the privilege of advertising their shop!

Been told that if a bag has been used to carry home uncooked chicken [even if in a sealed tray] it shouldn't be used for other foodstuffs... Due to bacteria likely to be present... Even on outside of packaging...

hobbit the 5p you will pay at Asda will be a "bag for life", unless you forget to take them with you.then you get charged well another 5p

But that means carting them about. I've no intention of stuffing my pockets with plastic bags... besides, buy uncooked meat as part of your weekly shop and the bag is free anyway. There's a list of items that mean they give you the bag for free, meat and fish being on the list. Going to be fun at the checkout.

Perhaps I should have mentioned in last nights OP about the film clip in the report, it showed a plastic bag being pulled from the throat of a sea bird and various other plastic bits in or around other birds.

The 5p for the bag is to encourage people not to use so many, not for profit, and the proceeds be passed on to various charities.
