Pitch marks

Getting out of the habit as not hitting any greens!

Normally fix any I come across but always surprised that so many are left.

Worst is after Medals! That 'it's the old-boys unable to bend down' is rubbish imo. There just seems to be 1 or 2 left every now and then that really adds up.

Pretty tough making a pitch mark at the moment!

Being old[ish] I feel I don't have to bother as I'm gonna get the blame for any unrepaired pitchmarks anyway :(:o...

In truth I do my own and any others I can manage without holding up play... Same goes for all my regular 'old[ish]' playing partners...

Have been advised though that its not a good idea to repair pitch marks on frosty greens...

Always repair mine & any others I see, time permitting.
I also find myself putting other peoples' divots back, if they're reasonably fresh, as I walk along the fairways, why can't people do this?

Slime.

Usually fix my own, or one I think is mine, plus another few. Although sometimes there are so many you just can't make an impression.
I also replace people's divots and collect lost objects such as head covers

I tried fixing my pitch mark on Sunday, but the ground was so frozen, all i could do was unravel the grass and pat it down!

Who advised you? Leaney? It's our Seniors who have to do all the pitch mark repairs after the weekend's youngsters have left their mark(s).

As the majority of your members will be younger than you, statistically your statement will be true.

But...I don't think your ageist comment is really appropriate.

I tend to fix my own and any in the vicinity. I don't tend to stalk the green looking for all of them. I don't think we can put the blame on the seniors or the women, the juniors or any particular faction. I've seen all sorts of player including vice captains fail to repair their own. Its a 30 second job and we all know the frustrations of a decen tputt hitting a badly repaired one and either jumping in the air or off line

How do you differentiate an old persons pitch mark from a young jiggers pitch mark. Do the codgers have traces of yellow or pink ball covering? Common belief would suggest that those of the cloth cap and cardie fraternity can only top the ball around the course and as such dont make pitch marks. I guess I could always ask a teenager as they tend to know just about anything about everything.

Personally I don't but it has been suggested on this thread that the more advanced in years are the biggest culprits
