Ping i irons

Thinking about these irons.

Anybody got any views or feedback. Better tgat i25s?

Currently have some i20s and wondering if its worth an upgrade.
Well surprise, surprise, they have slightly stronger lofts and longer shafts (to keep up with Taylor Made and Callaway), so ideal for bragging about how far you can hit a pitching wedge!

I tested the Ping I irons along with the Callaway XR Pro, Taylormade RSi1, Mizuno JPX 850 Forged, Titleist 714 & 716 AP2.

The ping were the ones that were my least favorite along with the JPX 850. The Callaway were by far my favorite; long & forgiving but still workable and nice looking at address. Closely followed by the TM and then both Titleist offerings.

The callaway also have the KBS tour shafts as stock, which judging from your bio, are the shafts that you already have in your current set.

They don't have longer shafts. You can choose the ''cfs distance '' shafts and they are 1/2 inch longer. But all other shaft options are the same as previous i series.
As for the stronger lofts.....the 1 degree stronger they are is purely to keep the flight down as the cavity is slightly bigger and cog is further back and lower.

I switched to these from my i20's and the only noticeable difference is they're alot more forgiving out of the toe. Distance is identical to my i20's

Not tried them yet. A carrot dangling for my 2016 golf game. Funnily enough there's a demo day in November along with a Titleist one. The Ping I and Titleist AP's are the only two I really have my eye on and have a chance to bash both to my hearts content and see what the numbers say

Ok guys thanks for the feedback.....the i doesn't seem to be as popular as the i20s when they launched and they are not cheap.....so will prbably stick with the i20s for a while longer. I also have a set of i15s which also go well with the kbs shaft.

Might give those callaways a look though.....

Friend of mine just traded his i25s in for the Callaway XR pro, and loves them.

played with a lad that had them. I'm not a short hitter with my irons. His SS was similar to mine, maybe a tad slower…..he was 2 clubs longer than me with Ping i irons compared to my S55's. I was utterly gob smacked. On our 8th (par3) it was playing 185yrds, a nice comfortable 5 iron for me (or a hard 6, I went with the 5 and stuck it pin high) He hit a 7 iron through the back!! Proper Victor Meldrew moment….

I know of 2 pro's at the belfry that have gone from s to i's.

A mate has a set. Like them alot

Funny on practice ground I hit his 8 higher and longer than my own. His are like 3.75deg up right and 1/2 longer. My irons are only 1degree up standard length. And more importantly mine were custom fitted to me few years back lol

But in saying that I don't think I buy a set something funny about them. Big sole but a small face. If you get what a mean. The sole on these to me seem bigger than the i25. Tho can't be 100% sure unless I have them side by side but going on memory

I know what you are saying and took my I25 into the shop today. It's not and I think Ping have tried to get a mid point between the wider sole on a G or I25 and the thin ones on the S series and in my mind have found a good compromise. Not hit them yet. Waiting for the demo day next month but some positive feedback from one or two one here
