What im trying to get at is all these easy to hit irons/hybrids are taking the skill factor away form the game. Ok i got a 1 iron replacement but to have a set of hybrids down to 6 to me is stepping the mark.

So you got a 1 iron replacement as you hadn't got the skill to use the 1 iron (and nor have I). All club manufacturers are producing clubs that they say are "game improvement" or help you hit further, straighter, draw bias or whatever. If the clubs are available and legal, why shouldn't golfers take advantage of them if they believe it will help their game? After all, even the pros in the main use the latest technologically advanced clubs.

Where do you set the mark? Are 1,2 and 3 hybrids ok but not 4,5, or 6? Are 1, 3 and 5 woods ok but not 7 or 9?

I've got no axe to grind on this one - I just can't really follow your logic. :)

I agree with leftie. The manufacturers will continue to produce clubs that are easier to hit as that makes the game more accessible to more people. They in turn buy the kit and the manufacturers make a profit. SImple economics

This trend will only stop once the R&A pass some sort of legislation banning this type of equipment. As pors use hybrids (OK only 2-3 hybrids in most cases I grant you) that doesn't seem likely nor does a ban on belly putters.

If you don't want to use a hybrid 6 iron that is your choice but I know many golfers out there (seniors and juniors) would benefit.

It is a forum so it is for airing opinions. Don't be so blinkered that if something doesn't agree with your views that it is meant as a personal sleight.

Ironically back on the subject of Ping. DId anyone see Setanta on Wednesday about 10.30 in the evening. It was a repeat of an old out of bounds show and Sarah Stirk was at Ping in Gainsborough and showed the custom fitting process
