Photos via Phone

With my Andoid phone you have to switch between using cable for charging and using cable for file transfer before you can download photos. I then have to switch to the appropriate directory with the phone hierarchy to download.

I've never seen that before, and I've had android from day one. Is that on a Mac or a PC?
On my desktop PC if I plug in a new Android phone a box pops up asking me what I would like to do with it, I've always ticked the 'view files and folders' box. Never had a problem.

And this is what I had not spotted. I plugged my LG Android phone into my laptop and sure enough the pop-up appears - but almost immediately disappears and previously I had never noticed it and so did not know that I had to do the switch.

I think this a feature with newer version of Android OS. On my older Android phone it didn't exist and as you say the directories popped up automatically.

Home PC and it is a dialog box on the phone, accessed by a downward swipe at the top where the battery charge state symbol is.

options are
Charge
File transfer
Photo transfer
Midi input

On the phone the photos are stored on SD card.

Cheers, weird that I've never seen that before. Might be a relatively new thing.
