Photos of the new ap1 ap2's

It's where the advertising is! That is why, nothing to do with technology. How many manufacturers splash the make and model onto the sole or face?

I think you'll find it is something to do with technology, after all not many clubs have much new tech' in the top line or club face. Where they do, Adams for example, they tend to include that picture.

I asked MikeH this once, he said that when they only show the back or sole of clubs in the mag' it's because that's what the manufacturers want us to see because that is where the technology tends to be.

Like you, I imagine, I can't see the point and don't care what anyone else sees of my club. I only care what it looks like from above.

Mygolfspy tell us that the likes of GM are told exactly what to show and what to say. Essentially golf magazines and video reviews are just adverts with strong "guidelines" as to what can be shown and said. I wonder what the reality of that is.

Below is Mike's response when I asked him why we see the back/bottom of clubs instead of the top/front:

"good question - the shots the brands supply (which we use most of the time otherwise we'd end up spending 10s of thousands photographing everything originally) tend to be sole of metalwoods putters and cavity/backs of irons as shows most of the technology and also the brand name and and graphics which is the thing you'll see when you go into any pro shop or retailer

we try to show address shots in the videos we do shoot this angle for the products that are featured in the the 'tested' pages of the magazine

Yup and they look a darn sight better than AP1s or Ap2s do

Are you seriously saying these look better than ap2's. I can get you a discount at spec savers if you want!

Oh for sure I am not disputing.... though having read it not sure why its a problem to make your own photos if you want to so that they are different from other outlets. Lets me honest, photos might get you to the shop to see the clubs for real, but your not going to buy if you dont like them in the flesh.

A number of products come out that I think are out and out ugly like the G30 driver but once seeing them in the shops.... I could bag the G30 now if it were the best fit for me...

From experience it takes a lot of lighting skill to photograph shiny objects, light them correctly and maintain the quality expected of the client. A magazine would almost certainly always take the easy route and get stock pics from the company as there's too many release/licensing issues surrounding commercial photography for it to be something you could do for every review.

Infinitely.... not even the same class! Most of Steve`s are RS1 too... so even even more out of AP2s class!

Thats not even the new ones, these are the new ones! make the AP2s look even worse!

I have to admit the new orkas look amazing. My friend who's a fitter had his delivery from Japan on Friday. Orka have actually used folded steel on these clubs

You mean like when they make swards? So hammering it out and banding it over and hammering it out?

And as I previously said, I dont care what the back of the club looks like. Maybe should have a look at both at address and see who needs specsavers (unless you like the chunky squarer top line)
