You won't go wrong with either. Both Titleist and Ping work on 2 year product cycles unlike other manufacturers. You should have a current set for a couple of seasons.

Pings 2 year cycle seems to have been reduced in recent years.

Titleist have tweaked these to perfection. Better than I had hoped.

In the market for those ap2s.

Like an idiot I was looking at pics of the 714 irons.

Just seen clear pics of the 716 and I have to agree with BIM, looks like a backwards step in the looks department. shame.

Why does having the current set make any difference? Do they have an expiry date on feel, and good shots?

Probably a bit like those people who have new cars all the time, feel they have to have the latest model, if they can afford it fair play to them, does it get them to where they are going any quicker, no, same can be said for the latest clubs, you might think you hit some clubs further than the previous model, the truth is the numbers have simply changed due to increased lofts!

If I was a brand follower and wanted the latest clubs all the time I'd be in trouble (and broke) with her indoors if I supported Taylormade, although I'm looking at some of their clubs currently, but then I have had my secondhand MP-52's for over 2yrs now :smirk:

Prefer the current 714 style. Still don't think I'd shift from my 710's, unless a really good price set of 714 came up but they'd have to be streaks ahead for me to change.

why do people care what the back of the club looks like? far more important what it looks like at address surely

I asked MikeH this once, he said that when they only show the back or sole of clubs in the mag' it's because that's what the manufacturers want us to see because that is where the technology tends to be.

Like you, I imagine, I can't see the point and don't care what anyone else sees of my club. I only care what it looks like from above.

It's where the advertising is! That is why, nothing to do with technology. How many manufacturers splash the make and model onto the sole or face?

Maybe they leaked the pics on the web to get a feel for how people respond to them. I used to do work for HTC and they leaked stuff all the time to get a reaction. Based on thoughts so far, it could well be back to the drawing board. They are growing on me those AP2's however.
