Just watched The Phantom of the Open movie... never knew this story about the open. Went with no expectations and loved it at the end. Dont want to put any spoilers here, but here is the trailer

 
Book was a grim read. I was expecting a light-lighted take on one of life's jolly eccentrics, a la Eddie The Eagle, but it was entirely miserable.
 
It was ok.. watchable

The dream Scenes were annoying like watching something from the 70s rather than something made now about the 70s

I enjoyed the story but would have preffered more of a British comedy feel about it ..

The Pro‘s father at our Club was a professional golfer who played with him @ Pleasingon in The Open qualifier in 1983. I was chatting to him today about Maurice. He was from Barrow which is 8 miles from our Club and Flitcroft was well known in the area.
