Pets on the floor - please!

I had a dog and two cats. None of them were allowed on the furniture or the bed. The cats weren't allowed on the worktop and we didn't feed any of them from the table. We didn't think any less of them as a result but they were pets and treated as such. They slept and lay on the floor, had the occasional pet treat but they were happy, well treated and fussed over just like a pet.

I have a friend who has two Bernese and they sleep pretty much were they like. She feeds them at the table but I don't. I'll give them dog biscuits away from the table but I don't give them what I'm eating. I don't pass comments as it's not my house and not my pets.
 
My OP was a bit tongue in cheek - some of you are too easily provoked .

Just for the record we've had 7 horses, several cats, a doberman, an old English sheepdog and an Alsation. We do know how to clean work surfaces.

But feel free to be insulted, self righteous and insult.

We have a bit of a crazy set of rules. the dogs are not allowed on the bed when we go to bed, but they can come up during the night when we are asleep. so they both creep up about 3am and are there when we wake up, snuggled between us. They are not allowed on the beds during the day, and are not allowed on the furniture downstairs at all.

We also have a holiday cottage which we let out. They are not allowed on the bed at all there, not even in the middle of the night.

They both understand these rules perfectly and don't ever try to chance their luck.

I told him I'm not allowed on the furniture
