Following some serious consideration I have decided that on the 20th June this year I will play as many holes on our course as I can in one day!

The reason I am doing this is my grandmother suffered from mental illness for the last 6 years of her life and I was honoured enough to be the person at her bedside when she passed quietly away.

The charity we have this year is the Alzheimer Society which does fantastic work for people suffering with dementia.

My aim is to play 6 full rounds equaling 108 holes of golf as my initial target but I will play on until fatigue or light stops me from playing any more holes. Sunrise is at 05:07 so I'm teeing off at 5 am sharp and with 16:27 minutes before sunset I have plenty of time to get in the 6 rounds so I think fatigue may be my bigger enemy than running out of light.

The club is going to support me by supplying food and drinks for my day, my boss has agreed to let me have a sponsor form in at work and I am going to contact local businesses to see if I can drum up some support or sponsorship from them.

I would like to have anyone help and advice on taking on this challenge and where I can have people pay in sponsorship money online as I will be hammering this on facebook.

What the hell have I got myself into this time!!!!

Best of luck sir, a decent cause for sure

The best place for sponsorship is justgiving.com or similar competitors that appear to have sprung up (worth checking what they charge if anything)

With regards to advice, there was a guy in Scotland who did 10 rounds in a day last year and blogged a fair bit about it, may be worth trying to read some of that

Edit: this is the website

Holy crap what have I let myself in for!

I have already started training but it wasn't for this it was just to get fitter but it will certainly help with this as well.

I'm doing the Macmillan Longest Day again this year. It's the clubs chose charity this year and they did a lot for my mum last year in her last few months. Makes sense to give something back. Not sure I could do six rounds mind

I'm hoping I can do more than that but I still haven't managed to get the full strength back in my right knee after having surgery on it 15 months ago. I'm also 40 this year so I'm no spring chicken anymore and 6 rounds feels possible and anything after that will be a bonus.
